I'm sorry but there is no way to tell.
I was in for over 8 years as an officer and still had a hard time figuring out why some of were picked to go to Afghanistan.
So, all I can tell you is this, check with the CO of the local Guard unit if your in the guard and see what the odds are.
If you are already in the regular army, it's a coin toss.
Best Regards to you, I've hoed this road before!

Hon, his probability of going to Iraq is high no matter what his MOS. I was a Combat/Medical/Forensic photographer (Visual Information Operator) and I went to Vietnam, so count on his going.
Hon, you can also call the Military One Source Organization, which will help you network with other spouses of deployed soldiers.

First, people should join the military these days with the expectation that they will deploy. I understand your concern of the time away from young kids. Look into ANG/AFRes, they deploy for more often but shorter periods.
Far as I know, those are not high depliyment specialties. However, if they do deploy, it's to sit inside a FOB in the AC & do their job btwn sending you emails & surfing the net.

Let's see... Possibly. More likely, PROBABLY.
A soldier that is a Vis Aids Techie, Programmer, supplies ammo or fuels Helos is susceptible to deployment as is anyone else in greens. Think about it, We use Computer, give briefings and disseminate information on the battlefield. If he gets into Wi-Fi or WAN/LAN, I would give him a higher expectation of deployment.
Our technology gives us an edge in combat.
Make sure if he deploys that you and the other spouses NETWORK and Support each other. Never fear what you cannot understand, there will be wives and husbands of Lifer Guardsmen to help you along -- if you ask.
Best of Luck to your husband and yourself.

The job of the military is to go to war to protect the freedoms and the interests of this country. If you sign up be prepared to do your job. Otherwise, look in the employment section of the newspaper and find a more suitable form of employment.

Pretty much every MOS is deployable. Think of it this way, if the Army didn't need that MOS in wartime, why would they need it at all. They could hire contractors for that skill.

Impossible to tell. Regardless of MOS, he is still a soldier.
