I am having major trouble with my ipod nano. Last month i bought a new computer (with vista) and when i finally opened it i tried to get all my songs on my new computer. Right when i put the connector into the port all my songs instantly deleted.

I was wondering if anyone new how i could retrieve my songs or what i can do about this problem

Ps. I copied all of my 200 and something songs onto a flash drive and it won't open with anything besides itunes, why is that?

Generally, iTunes synchronizes your computer with your iPod. So, if you have something on your iPod and not on iTunes, there is a good chance that it could be wiped away. However, I have never heard anything like this before with songs. If these songs were on the computer before, try "Recouva" a free program that will try to find deleted information on your computer. If not, then you might want to try Recouva on your iPod, but I don't think it'll come up with much. Other than that, I can't think of anything else, but all the best! Good Luck!

The reason why all the songs deleted from your Ipod nano once you connected it to your new comp was, most likely because your itunes on your new comp was empty. Ipods, once connected to a computer updates to whatever is on that itunes. what i recommend to do is import the songs from your flash drive on to your itunes and then sync your ipod and you should be fine. The reason why your songs only open on Itunes is because the format that they are copied is used only for itunes, if you want to play them somewhere else, i recommend to burn the songs on to an audio cd and then re-copy them as mp3 files. the only downside is that you will be using more space on your memory. Hope this might help you out a bit, but if always in doubt you could always go on to www.apple.com and click on the support tab and go fro there.

Well, good luck!!!!

Yeah iTunes/iPod is like that. You and millions of other users didn't realize that when you got your iPod.

Why not try something like this? You have all your songs on a flash drive so why not copy them to your computer, then import then into iTunes and finally sync them with your iPod?

that happend to me too. its because you plugged ur ipod into a new itunes that wasnt the one the ipod was interacted with. theres no way you can get those songs onto ur new itunes. unless u like go onto ur old itunes and burn all the songs onto a disc. then put the disc in the new computer and then u can put the songs on the disc into ur itunes permanenty. otherwise, ur just gonna have to download them all over again

I have your answer to the second question. You probably have the open any song with iTunes setting. You can change that by right-clicking on the song, going to properties, and see where it says Open With: iTunes? Click change and click on whatever program you want the songs to open with. Then click OK and you should (depending on your settings) see all the songs in the thing be ables to open with that certain program.

i think you needed to save everything in your itunes folder that was originally on your old computer. if you did then replace that old itunes folder with the new itunes folder on your new computer. the itunes folder is in your music folder on vista
