Definetely. I mean, i love my church, i mean, really love it, i love going, i love the people there and i love the preaching. But one thing really annoyed me one morning. The pastor got up and made the weekly announcements and one of them was about a petition. The petition was about banning gay marriage. Now, i wasn't angry with that as much, i mean, i am a big supporter for homosexuality even though i am a christian, but i can understand why they want to ban marriage. But it was the next comment that infuriated me as the pastor used a story to influence people into signing it. He told a story of a little girl abused by gay parents and made stupid statistics that arn't true, like "millions of children in gay homes are abused" and "children in gay homes are abused more than in straight homes". This annoyed me so much because these facts were untrue and it was really wrong to use such a simple minded example of gay abuse. I mean, what if a gay was in the church? I might be taking it wrong but they have the same right to feel like real people and not have stupid remarks like that stated upon them.

I was in a mega church once where the pastor repeatedly said, "there's nothing wrong with having a lot of money and nice things", and I wasn't sure if he was directing this message at the church or at himself. It was unfortunate that he didn't divert into more of a message of giving to the poor, but instead the message seemed to be little more than a justicifiction of the possession of wealth (which in and of itself isn't neccessarily wrong, but is still something that should be carefully examined by the individual in their spiritual walk.)

Yes, when they misinterpret the Bible.

When they speak to fill the churches for money and go against the true teachings of God leading a lot of people astray.

Having people praising themselves instead of God.

There are a lot of so called Christian preachers that do that.

I used to get indignant via this type of man or woman too, yet then I regarded at it from a various attitude. they are people who believe and are affirming those ideals interior the face of ridicule in an attempt to assist people-even suited strangers. I agree that some zealots would nicely be overly aggressive and judgemental, yet maximum of them are good-hearted people. It sounds such as you all of sudden met somebody who is not any good at verbal exchange; she grew to become you off via condemning you, and that's not a thank you to cajole somebody that Jesus loves you. do not reject the message only because of the fact the messenger screwed it up.

I will say this. It is amazing haw many Preachers I have met in my travels, that I believe know only scripture, with no concept who God is. The bad part and the good part of that situation is that in the same churches I find parishioners that truly know God.. God never ceases to amaze me!

when i was a christian, our church priest seemed obsessed with women. His sermons were centered on blaming women for the ills of society. Example, women do not raise their kids well so they do this and that, women do not teach their kids so and so, women neglect their husbands so they look for outside attention, women dress immodestly so men get tempted. His favorite mantra was the one about immodestly dressed women. He was so obsessed with this concept that he would look around the congregation during mass and point out and send women home if they had any above the knee, v-neck, pants or sleeveless outfits.
The amazing thing is this guy was very loved by the congregation.

On several occasions, and I wasn't the only one to be annoyed. I've heard him make disparaging generalizations about Islam and defend the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, praising him for publishing a right-wing newspaper to offset the "liberal" newspapers that he imagines exist.

Yes, he's actually had the audacity to preach against sin.
LOL
It's always easier to hear him preach about sin that I'm not indulging in but when he points things out and the Holy Spirit confirms it within me, then I know that I've got some more work to do. Trust me, this is a constant battle. I'm a work in progress, bound to be a masterpiece someday!

Oh sure. I have been in churches where ministers have said that Catholics are not Christians, which is baffling being the Catholic faith is founded on the Bible.
