Probably the only present-day country outside of the Mediterranean and Middle East region that existed in Jesus' time was China. This is not mentioned by name. Some people claim that Russia was mentioned, but of course there *was* no Russia at that time. As mentioned by other answers, Ethiopia, as well as other (unknown) African regions, were mentioned by name.

In general - yes:
Job 34:13
"Who gave Him authority over the earth?
And who has laid on Him the whole world?

Psa 19:4
Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their utterances to the end of the world.
In them He has placed a tent for the sun,

Psa 24:1
The earth is the Lord's, and all it contains,
The world, and those who dwell in it.

Psa 33:8
Let all the earth fear the Lord;
Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.

etc. etc.

Naturally, the Jews were concerned with their own relationship with God and their own problems. The bible is not intended to be an atlas. Why would they write about a place that they did not know and that did not concern them? For example, when's the last time *you* wrote about Sulawesi?

Of course, prophecy mentions several countries, many of which are claimed to be modern nations, but that is pure unfounded speculation.

When the people who wrote the Bible came up with the stories in it, that was the only area they knew about. Judaism and Christianity started in the Middle East.

I think they had no clue about the rest of the world in those days so it was natural to mention only what was local.

These areas were the world to the writers of the scriptures. Jesus did say "Other sheep I have that are not of this fold..." eluding to peoples elsewhere in the world.
