One of the main differences is that the majority of christians can be asked that question.. "do you really believe this?"
The people who post the scientology belief will usually add that its secret knowledge known only to those at the top. So asking scientologists if they really believe it is like digging secrets out of the vatican vaults and asking christians if thats what they believe.
Most scientologists would apparently not even be aware of all that if it wasnt for people continually posting the "secret knowledge" from strange websites and TELLING them that is what their religion REALLY is.
Of course, its also held against the scientologists that they dont seem to know all of this secret knowledge about their own religion. :)

You have a point, anything can look silly. However, you do have to admit that God and Adam and Eve are all pieces of a larger work called The Bible, thousands of years in the making, etc. Whereas L. Ron Hubbard's story of aliens has only his word for it, there are no "documents" really and no tradition of this belief. Also, you have to pay thousands of dollars to get to the "core" of Scientology, whereas the Bible only costs you a one-time price. So you can see why people might laugh.

Scientology is not based on a science fiction book. Scientologists do not believe in the space alien stories that you might find on the internet.
Scientologists believe that each one of us is a spirit. And Scientology contains tools that people can use to improve their spiritual condition.
The people who bash Scientology and make stupid claims about it are either ignorant and don't know the truth, or they are hateful and destructive by nature, or they see it occurring elsewhere or in the media and blindly follow that lead.
If you really want to know what Scientologists believe, go straight to the source. If you wanted to learn about Judaism, would you go to a Nazi website for information? Of course not. Try www.bonafidescientology.org.

Scientology was clearly written by a science fiction writer not long ago, as a science fiction book. While you could argue that the Bible is the same thing, it's place in history is less clear, and though self-prophesying, still has the slightest possibility of being what it claims - the word of God. It was written by so many people over such a long period of time - much of which we have no archaeological evidence - that we can't know for sure whether it's origins are believable. Scientology is more clear, and has less "mystery", and therefore easier to debunk.

For me it's not so much the alien thing. If believing that you are a reincarnated alien brings you peace, more power to you. My problem with the Church of Scientology is that they are very vehement in their aggressive efforts to recruit members, even more so sometimes than fundementalist Christians. I have known people who had to change phone numbers and even move because they made the mistake of taking that test on the website for poops and giggles and subsequently got harassed over and over again by CoS members who would not back off and take no for an answer and in a lot of cases got really scary. The anti-psychiatry stuff doesn't really do it for me either, especially since I do suffer from a chemical imbalance/atypical brainwiring (Asperger's Syndrome, with depression) and their insistence that all I have to do to "get over it" is just to smile and "think happy thoughts" gives me an overpowering urge to tell them to go f**k themselves.

Probably best is do your research by googling scientology. Then google Christianity or Judaism. Make your own decision as to what is worth your while and what is silly to you.
Not for nothin but if you are going to ask a question about scientology or any religion (like the one I asked before), be prepared for a ton of interesting OR insulting comebacks. That's what this Q & A is about.

Because God is not an alien and there are no aliens in my body fighting for control. LOL. Scientology was started to get money from rich suckers who were so lost and stupid. The sad thing is, these people will go to Hell and are doomed because they don't know the Truth.

You are absolutely correct, and although I find all religious beliefs difficult to swallow, Scientology is among the top 5 of "the silliest things a person can believe without an ounce of proof." Number 1 uncontested champion is non other than Mormonism.
Let me stress that these are my personal views so don't nobody have a cow over my stupid answer.

There isn't. The problem arises, however, because a lot of people think that Scientology is different than other religions, and that they believe their mythology as historical truth. They don't. Only a few do, just like only a few Christians believe in say creationism.

heaven, hell, and heaven are not silly at all. how do you think this world came here without God? it's way to organized to have just popped out of nowhere. here's an example. ur taking a walk in an alley and all of a sudden, you see a tornado forming a car, getting the engine, the wipers, the wheels, everything! cars are way to organized to have just come out of nowhere, and so is this world. so how can you say the idea of God is silly? and where do you think you go after you die?
