they probably just love you and think their way is the best way. What I do is listen to them and then make my own decisions. Though I'll be the first to admit that my mom's almost always rite. *Never telling her that tho.* Sorry thats just the way it is. Be happy someone cares about you that much.

Because they own you.
Literally, until you are 18 and they are legally responsible for your actions until then.
Dont believe it? Just cancel your car insurance and go crash your car ( no dont do this really) and see if your parents dont have to sell their house to pay for the damage you cause.
The best thing you can do is work WITH them. Stay out of trouble and get good education. Give back to your community.
Enjoy being a good kid and grow up with a good attitude.
Your parents mean well.
If you are over 21 you are responsible for yourself so dont be controlled. Be respectful, but be firm, and stand on your own.
Be ready to help them when the time comes.

you have to follow what they tell you till age 18 but after that it is a request and them the will aways be around be lucky you get them cause some of them might keep you from doing something stupid that you would do if it was not said or requested I done that once and I am still paying for that! and it has been over 10 years now that I went against my parents request - they are dead now. I miss them

Look at it this way.... Would you be happy if your parents never said anything to you? Let you do whatever you wanted, then get yourself in trouble? They are protecting you! Your parents gave you life and want the best for you so you can grow up some day and then "control your own children"

lol.

they don't. they merely want to ensure that they give you the best start possible.

Here's a tip, they are older than you, and have more knowledge than you. They are also able to judge the consequences of things better, as they have learned to look ahead and plan for the future.

When you are older, you will understand that your parents really do know best.

They aren't trying to squish you, or ruin your life. they love you.

Not all of them do. Some may seem controlling because they have made a lot of mistakes and want to prevent their kids from making them too.

If you get in trouble with the law, they get in trouble. They bore you, they are responsible for you, they own your butt until you are 18. They pray for the day that you turn 18! lol

Your guess is as good as mine. My parents STILL do and I've been married for four years and have a child. I guess it's because they feel they're still responsible for you since they created you.

they probably want the best for you and are trying to keep you from making the same mistakes they made.
