i'm trying to get my 12 month old daughter away from the bottle and onto a sippy cup. i haven't completely taken the bottle away yet because she hasn't gotten use to anything else (sippy cup). and every cup iv'e tried she'll take a small few drinks then throw it down and not pick it up again.i dont think it's a horrible thing that she still prefers her bottle because she is only 12 months old, i just dont want her to get too attached. iv'e used nuby cups and playtex cups both soft and hard tips. any suggestions?

it may sound harsh, but, don't give her a choice. take away the bottle, and give her the sippy cup. but don't cave when she cries and begs for the bottle. sometimes that's the only way to get them off of it.

are you trying the no-spill cups? because on those they have to suck on it just like a bottle, so a lot of times they don't even notice the difference. that's what i did with my daughter.

I like the playtex brand sippy cups.. The caps are all interchangeable and the "stoppers" are too. They wash really well in the dishwasher and the "stopper" stay put so nothing comes out all over the place.. I've used Gerber/nuby and I thought they were horrible ! The "stoppes" never stayed in and juice/milk would be everywhere ! Never had a problem with Playtex.. I've been using them for about 3 yrs +. They aren't that expensive either I have a 2 pk for about $7. I also got a 4 pk from Bj's wholesale for $9. They are even available at the grocery store... Good luck

Playtex no spill is great. They have to suck it to make the liquid come out, so it's a good transitional cup. At first though the child might be a little frustrated not knowing how to work it, but they will catch on.
It's great because if the child falls asleep with the cup, no spills. Also, you can help get the child off of the nighttime bottle with this cup since there are no leaks, the bed will remain dry.
It's also great because some kids throw cups and that can be just a disaster!

I had the same problem with my first child. She ended up being on a bottle until she was 18 months old. I tried everything, but the one that she finally stuck on was a Gerber sippy cup (hard). Just like with bottles, some kids are picky with their sippy cups also. The thing that worked best for me was to just outlaw the bottle during the day. I wouldn't do this until you knew for sure she was able to drink out of the sippy cup. If you know she can drink out of the sippy cup, then just outlaw the bottle for now, except for sleeping times, they are usually last to go. She might not drink as much with the sippy cups at first, but that is normal.

I would stick with the nuby or soft playtex. Also don't give her a choice. She still might be young but try to limit her bottles. I watch my 17 mnth nephew we only give him 2 bottles a day 1 at naptime and 1 at bedtime the rest of the time he drinks a cup.

Look for NUBY cups. They are a transition between a bottle and a cup. Can't spill and deliver fluid well. My Grandson loves them. He's almost out of them though. 10 months is early, 22 is too long.

At Walmart they sell a disposable sippy cup. They are amazing both of my kids used theese took right to them & they never leeked. I would wash them & reuse them until they were worn but the are cheap enough that if you lose them oh well! If the child is teething & chews on the cup oh well!!

Tommee Tippee definitely. Very easy to clean, liquid comes out easily, very cheap and comes in different colours so you can use one for milk and one for juice / water. I have tried numerous other cups with my two girls and always go back to this.
