okay... so this just in... I just pulled 11 fleas of my puppy... mind you she only weighs 15 lbs. at the most. I also wanted to add on that I have ceramic tile in my room so does that make it harder to kill them? we have carpet in 3 rooms but she doesn' tgo in those rooms. I've set off 2 bombs in my room and 1 in the living room.... I've sprayed all the other rooms with the raid spray... still no improvement. I've been giving my puppy benadryl to help her with the itching (I did 'okay' that with the vet) my mom had one literally jump off of her... I feel dirty... I'm always itching because of course, my puppy sleeps with me. I've never had a flea problem before, my puppy is 4 years old (which I know no longer classifies her as a 'puppy') but I mean what the hell?!?!?! I just can't get rid of the effin things... I mean 11 fleas... come on now... THAT'S CRAZY!!!!

Those things often don't work and they are toxic to you and the puppy.

Call the friendly folks at Only Natural Pet Store as they have things that do work for the environment (home and yard) and the dog.

I use the Herbal Defense Spray with 100% success against fleas, ticks, mosquitos and lots more.

You need to actually treat the puppy or they'll never go away. Just pulling the fleas off the puppy does nothing - you think 11 fleas is a lot, for every one you see there are many more and many HUNDREDS more eggs!

How old is the pup? Get some treatment from the vet. If he's under 8 weeks old it'll have to be Frontline spray, this can be used on pups from 2 days of age. You MUST use veterinary stuff because store-bought stuff does not work. Bombs do not work. Get a proper housespray from the vets.

Get some Frontline or Revolution from the vet. It doesn't help to kill the fleas in your room if you just return with a dog full of fleas. You have to kill the fleas on the dog, then the ones in the environment and you will probably have to bomb about 2-3 weeks later to get any hatching eggs the first bomb missed.

When you get a bad case of fleas(I'm talking worst case scenario),the infestation can get so bad that they live under your floor boards or in your walls. The little suckers are persistant. Before you go to the drastic measure of tearing your house apart, make an appointment with a groomer, tell him/her your dog has fleas-they can use a flea bath that may be stronger than what you can get at the store. Then talk to your vet about investing in a very good flea collar/paste.

First off, bath it in the original blue dawn dish soap. Put moth balls in your vacuum cleaner bag/container. Sprinkle your floor with salt every morning and vacuum it up later than night and sprinkle it again. It will take a week or so. Also use Advantage or Frontline on your dog monthy. It will kill the fleas on your dog now also. I would bath it first and then use the meds. You cannot bath or get them wet for 24 hours after putting it on them. I use the Advantage monthly and have never had a problem with them.

You have some good answers here. Also keep in mind, that you cannot just kill the fleas in your room. You need to kill the fleas in EVERY room.

I've got the same problem. I have recently found this web site where people are talking about their battle with fleas. You might want to check it out. It's called "how to get rid of stuff.com". Once there, click on "pest control", then "fleas". People there have all kind of advice on how to get rid of them.
Good Luck.
