Stove Top Stuffing comes dry in a box. It looks like croutons. You store it in the cupboard until you want it, and then you just add water or broth and heat it on the stove.

I want to make my own "Stove Top" stuffing. I have some dry bread, and I want to combine it with other DRY ingredients so that I can store it in my cupboard. I don't want to add anything moist until later, when I'm ready to use some of it. Any ideas?

cube up bread and let dry. If you have a gas stove just put bread in a metal pan and put in oven for a day (don't turn on) Add sage2tsp, and some powdered chicken broth (1TBS) and poultry seasoning.2tsp salt and pepper, 1 tsp onion powder 1tsp celery flakes. Use about 10 cups of bread cubes. I would mix this together and put in zip lock bags and store in freezer. If you put in jars it could mold even if the bread is dried. To make add 2 well beaten eggs and water to moisten. Bake . I would think you could make it on the stove top minus the eggs Just bring the water and marg. to a boil and mixture turn off fire and cover. You would have to make sure your bread was cut into really small cubes.

Mix celery into bread cubes(you can buy them at the store, they should be stale but not rotted) with onions. Pour in stock until the mixture is moistened to your liking of texture. Place in turkey or a pan to put in the oven....mmmmm.

Dried bread crumbs, freeze-dried onions, poultry spice, etc.
But for the real thing you need sausage meat & giblets.
