I have noticed that the larger the proportion of carbohydrate in my diet, the bigger my appetite. Breakfast, for example: if I have two eggs and a piece of whole wheat toast I will be very full all morning and eat less throughout the day. If I have high fiber cereal with milk I will tend to eat more throughout the day.

Do other people find the same? Since I don't eat a lot of meat getting protein from the same sources (eggs, chicken, peanut butter and milk) in every meal is difficult and tedious. It's also expensive! Also, even though I feel better when I eat more protein, I can't help but wonder if it's the healthiest diet.

What do you think? Do you find that keeping your carbohydrate intake down helps you control your weight? I am a normal weight but fluctuate about 5 pounds. I would be thrilled to lose 5 lbs. and then maintain.

I agree with you. I find that an egg sandwich holds me the best and reduces my appetite until dinner time, when I have my biggest meal because I can't sleep through the night if I don't eat well at dinner.
When I eat oatmeal for breakfast, albeit with eggshites and a banana, it does not hold me and I have to snack all day on plain popcorn. The end result is that I am better off just eating the egg sandwich.
Protein and fat control the appetite.
Carbs are addictive...the more of them you eat, the more of them you crave.
Case in point: Fritos. You wind up eating lots of them.
