ie. vermiform appendix, plica semiluminaris, coccyx, and ear muscles. These are all working organs in other animals, but serve no purpose, or can actually be a health hazard to humans. So, what is the point in creating them?

You forgot our wisdom teeth. They serve no purpose, and usually have to be removed. I can't wait to see the Christians try to explain these...

The tongue’s surface sometimes becomes “furred” or coated. Actually the formation of a coating on the tongue is a natural and continuous process. However, this coating is usually removed by saliva flow, chewing of food, talking and swallowing. The coating is generally composed of small food particles, bacteria and tissue cells that are sloughed off the surface of the tongue in a way similar to that in which your skin sheds dead cells.
Any condition that interferes with the normal cleaning of the tongue may produce an abnormally coated tongue. Among the factors that can contribute to this are soft diet, mouth breathing for some, lack of attention to mouth hygiene, smoking, dehydration during fevers, and lack of normal saliva flow.

Glad you ask! I just read an article about the appendix, right here on yahoo. It seems that the appendix did have a purpose for primitive people, but our bodies don't need it anymore. Remember, we've been here a long time, it's only natural that our needs change and our bodies would change as well. Which, of course, God would know about ahead of time.

It gives doctors something to do. :) I've always wondered about that myself. In fact when I parted with my appendix at age 14 my doctor basically told me it was an organ we didn't use anymore. Since then I've wondered how long it would be before people would start being born without them.

Actually, it was in the news this week that scientists have discovered the purpose of the appendix. Just because we don't understand something scientifically YET, does not mean it isn't valid, useful or true....Blessings!

Everything is for a wisdom. A calamity can be the reason for one person's pain and another person's reward for helping and being patient.

And don't think physiology is at the level of knowing the human body down to every detail of the systems, There is a lot they still admit to not knowing.

What do you mean they serve "no purpose"? They keep other organs in place, provide structural support, and help keep the skeleton together! :) Funny!!! Hazard if appendix gets infected and ruptures, but most people don't have that happen.

Yes, I understand you're somewhat leaning towards evolution, but I still believe no apparent function like liver, heart, or brain does not equate to NO FUNCTION.

The most laughable Creationist explanation is that since "The Fall", biological systems have been degenerating and anything we can't explain is just chalked up to the perversion of life because of the myth of the Garden of Eden.

Because there is no god, or the god is a poor designer.

BTW: Recent research tells that the appendix may, in fact, be useful: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21153898/
