that is referring to the mountains in your life,
however, while setting up a concert at our Church, the pastor and I were walking around the church, to see what needed to be done when his stumbled over a pile of dirt, that had been there for at least 20 years, ever since they had dug a basement for the church, and i guess you could cal it a mountain.
He turned and said that he wished someone would do something about that pile of dirt, to which I reminded him of this very scripture. I spoke to the pile of dirt, an we had a good laugh,
the next day a young man in the church came over with a skip loader, and took that pile of dirt and spread it over the parking lot, He had not been with us, and neither one of us had mentioned it to him.

Jesus promised that if your Faith is a size of the smallest seed of that time, a mustard seed.
In God's sight a Faith with the size of mustard seed matters. If we have a faith like that are we going to waste it in just moving a mountain or use it to spiritual warfare or for good deeds that others may benefit.
Christianity is all about loving God and your brethren, is moving a mountain would help a brother, or it would just show your pride and arrogance. We have to examine ourselves whether we are in the faith...

you have to truly believe like say i wanted to hurt you for this stupid a88 question, that you know would upset Christians and prayed that a plague would affect you, I would have to totally believe with all my heart and all my soul and not have 1 iota of doubt, which as a human being is totally impossible to do.
that is how faith can move mountains so yes it is literal.
But very very hard because no one has that kinda faith.
You may want to try though you never know you may have that faith.

It is a metaphor, Jesus is telling us that even a small amount of faith can do big things. It does not literally mean that this amount of faith can move a literal mountain. If one took it completely literally, I would ask them how they could measure faith in physical dimensions. God bless.

You need to understand what mountains mean,,,your mountains could mean ,,your marriage, your life, your family saved...Things like that...It is not meaning mountains, although I believe if we have faith that strong we can really move a real mountain..Your faith gets stronger as you walk with the Lord...

In this context it means that if you have faith even as small as a mustard seed...You can do the impossibles...You can achieve greater things that not even you can imagine!
But that begins with faith!
Just Have FAITH!
God Bless.

Faith can move multitude of people the same way Jesus is moving mountains of people by bearing witness to the truth of God's Kingdom.

Uniting, first, to those in heaven, the just on Earth, and you, my brothers and sisters. Together, yes, we can. I believe that the problems we are having in the world right now (weather patterns, wars, etc) are directly the result of the lack of faith and unity. There is a great apostasy going on right now.

It means that with God you can do things, great things that would be impossible on your own. An example of this is Moses.. Moses was slow of speech...he stuttered, yet God used Him to save an entire nation. Paul had very bad eye site....by today's standards he would be considered legally blind yet God used Him in a very great way.
Today, people who have tried for years and years to over come an addiction finally obtain victory through Jesus.
With Jesus we can do things that we think are impossible.
