The doctor won't give you the shot if you're mentally competent and don't want it. It's your choice, not your mother's, even if you're not 18 yet. Your mother can pressure you, but it would be a breach of medical ethics for the doctor to force you. I suggest asking your mother to leave the room and having a private discussion with the doctor about your options tomorrow.

Maybe you should talk to your doctor tomorrow. I can see where your might think it is the best thing for you but there are a lot of side effects with it as well. I tried and had a constant period for 2 months, plus when you are old enough to settle down and start a family it could take you a very long time to get pregnant. I would suggest that you talk to your mom about the patch, if it is a responsibility issue for your mom she can always see you have the patch on, It is a good alternative. I agree you need to have a constant and reliable birth control method though.

No you can get the depro-provera shot whenever butyou need to make sure that you are not pregnant before you get it. That is why they say to do it the 2nd or 3rd day of your period so they know you are not pregnant. If you do not get it when you have your period it will not work for a week or so, so if you do get and you are not pregnant do not have unprotected sex for over a week. Though you should not be having unprotected sex anyways.

I was on Depo for 3 years. If you don't want it, it is not something you should get. I gained a significant amount of weight from it, had major mood changes, and just really didn't like the way it made me feel. On the flip side, it was great not having to really worry about a pill and i never got my period. Oh, you can aslo get it whenever you want to (and then 90 more days from then and so on...). I never had a problem getting pregnant after I stopped, either, but they do say it can slow fertility down.

you can start it whenever, you have to not be pregnant, they will do a test before starting the shot, you get follow up shots around every 3 months. since i dont know why you dont want it i dont know what else to offer for information. i get it and have for over 10 years and ive always loved it. ive known others who dont. just like every birth control its for some and not for others. it could cause weight gain or increase period issues in some or even blood clots while in others none of these are a problem. i have had no weight issues and i havent had a period for over 10 years. i like not having to deal with something daily but you still have to worry about STDs if you are with a new partner!!!!!! ;) use a condom!!!

after i had my son i went on depo
i would NEVER go on it again! i bled (light) for 9 months straight once i started it, then didnt get my period at all until maybe 3 - 4 months after i stopped taking it.. i was on it for about 2.5 years.
anyway, when i was ready to have baby #2 i couldnt conceive!! here i am 5 years later ( my son is now 6) and im gonna have baby #2. i never wanted my children this far apart but i guess i'll take what i can get.
my advice to u is to go on the pill and promise ur mother u will take it every day.. and do it! because if ur mom is still making birth control decisions for u, u definately aren't ready to me a mom urself. but dont go on the shot i think it has some major long term effects that could be scary!!
best of luck
p.s. they can give it whenever they want even if ur on ur period. they usually wait until after tho, to rule out any chance of pregnancy.

I was on Depo for about a year and half.. It is different for everyone. Some women gain weight and some loose weight. It depends on your diet itself.. If you think you may be pregnant the nurse or doctor will inform you before they give you the shot(because the shot can abort the baby) But still, they can not give you the shot without your permission.

I took Depo shots for about three years, and I loved them. You can start them at any time, whether you're on your period or not, and their contraceptive effect starts immediately. I never had a period while I was on the shot, and I loved that too. It's very easy to go to the doctor for five minutes every three months and get your shot, and it doesn't hurt.

I am going to tell you that I got the shot and it didnt work, in fact it made my period alot worse. i would recommend that you talk to the doctor, they wont give you a depo shot if they think you might be pregnant and they can run a pregnancy test on you for verification. hope this helps - and good luck either way you go.

Depro-Provera can cause continuos periods or no period at all, if you are pregnant you will need to let your mum know as this will harm the baby
