It depends on the allergies your pup has. My cat also has allergies; we finally had to have the vet do an allergy test to determine the allergens.
In my cats case, in addition to several local weeds, she was allergic to rice, wool, milk, eggs, dogs and catfish! Try to find a dry cat food without rice! TUrns out there is one. Seriously, ONE. and that one does have some egg protein in it.
After eliminating all wool blankets, changing food, telling the neighbor we could no longer baby-sit her dog, making sure the local weeds were not too local...we still had to give the poor kitty allergy shots.
Long story short: consult your vet.

I have picky eaters, no allergies though, but I am concerned about the recalls and the overall healthiness of their food. If they had their choice they would eat Alpo canned and Kibbles and Bits dry because that is what the shelter fed them. We (me and the dogs) have agreed upon (after trying many different types of foods) the Merrick cans (when I don't make their food and because they do like dog food occasionally) and they love them. They have consented to Eagle Pack for their dry food which is left out all the time. (Once in a while they will refuse it for days and I will buy a small bag of Pedigree so they can have a change. Then they go back to Eagle Pack.) They prefer the duck flavor and flatly refuse the chicken. One of the foods we tried was Innova but I think it was too bland for my flavor hounds. California Naturals was another one we tried that they thought was too bland.

It's impossible to say, without knowing what the dog's allergies are...it's not 'one size fits all' like so many believe. I highly recommend an allergy test to determine exactly what bothers the dog. It's not cheap ($250), but it will save time, effort and money in the long run. I know, because we found out the hard way with one of our dogs. It's also important to understand only approx 10% percent of allergies are diet related. The other 90% are environmental...weeds, grasses, trees, fungi, house dust/mites, etc. Many dogs also have more than one allergy, making it difficult to impossible to figure it out by trial and error. That's why I highly recommend the test, otherwise it's just a guessing game. That said, the most common *diet* allergies, in order, are: beef, dairy, chicken, wheat, eggs, corn and soy. (PS Many of the brands listed, my dog can't have...please, don't judge by brand alone. In fact, Innova Evo is my all time favorite, but he can't have it anymore....because some of his allergies are milk, carrots and potatoes.)

I'd give Eagle Pack Holistic a try. Our dog had allergies too. He used to get hot spots that he would chew on and would lose fur (his tail would have almost no fur on it). When we adopted a kitten, the shelter gave us a sample of Eagle Pack cat food. When we went to buy some more of the cat food, we decided to try the dog food also. Our dog has not had any more allergy problems since being on it. He's 11 years old and has the energy of a puppy. His fur is soft and shiney and he never loses fur or gets hot spots any more.

Our dog had skin allergies and was on science diet food. We switched him to Solid Gold's Hunden Flocken dry food. We had great success with it. There is nothing in the food that I can't pronounce or wouldn't eat myself. I highly recommend it!

Take your pick of the three. Try it for at least 8 weeks before deciding there is no improvement. It can take that long for a food switch to start improving things.

lol my dog has allergies to foods too and the only foods he can eat now are organic foods because they have no chemicals or anything. oh, and has anybody gone to iamscruelty.org and seen the videos about their animal abuse? just please be careful when choosing dog food brands so you're not accidentally supporting any abusive pet food companies.

ANYTHING but science diet (that food is crap)...well not anything...but it might as well be labeled "dog chow II "
find a holistic food...something with high protein count that has no corn, wheat, soy, or beef.
