I need some advice on some ideas to get my son to want to learn. My son is 5 and in kindergarten and does not want to learn, he doesnt seem to absorb any info because he forgets it all by the end of the day. My daughter is 8 and in 2nd grade and they are thinking of moving her up a grade because she is so smart and is bored with the 2nd grade information because she already knows it. She has been willing to learn everything since day 1 and i cant seem to get my son interested?
Anybody have advice for me???

ok im only in middle school but i have an answer
my brother is super unsmart
he was in kindergarten
and i thot he was gonna fail
i love him and i want him to learn more
i have my own homework to do so im busy...
so on the weekend i have play school to make things more interesting for my bro
we do more hands on stuff and long recesses so he duzent get bored and kry
and now hes in 1st grade and he is the best reader in his class....

so i think that since yu are comparing him to a super smart child that yu kinda freak out
but learning takes time so dont push yur son so hard
he will learn
and try the play school thing
its really fun...

p.s yur daughter could be yur student teacher...

I would have a meeting with the teacher and ask her what she thinks the problem is. He may be willing to learn but not able to stay focused. I had a foster son that had ADD and once I knew what the problem was he was able to stay very focused and became an A student and graduated a year early. I did not medicate him we just gave up a lot of junk type foods in his diet and did everything on the same routine. What ever you do don't compare him to your daughter every child is different and his strength may not be in school where hers is.

Hello
Do not get me worng but have u gotten him checked by a doctor to see if he is medically fine.
U said that he forgets everything by the end of the day which kinda of seems unusual .On the other hand he might just not be liking the traditional education system. My sister just hated school right from Pre K till she graduated college.
Some kind r just different and do not like the traditional methods.
Have u tried the Vtech educational toys as they r really fun to learn with .

Not all kids are the same. Some love learning, some don't--especially at his age. Kindergartners aren't exactly capable of remembering things unless they are taught it over and over. Just like any other kid in his class, he's probably not interested in what is being taught.

When he brings home papers, go over the things he missed. If he misses a math problem, show him what he did wrong and then show him how to do it right.

Don't get mad at him for not learning the material. It's not that he's not smart, it's just that he's 5 yrs. old.

Seriously, get help. No, you did not teach your son any lesson, and you have only trashed any security you and your family have known in your house. After you use any items in your daily life to you take it all apart and spread it around the house? If the answer is yes, then you are not being safe, you are suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and you need help. If left untreated you could end up hurting yourself and others. If you had wanted to teach your son a lesson, you could have just taken the xbox and told him that you took it because he left it out.

maybe what you could do is ask the teacher to send home everything that they went over in that day home with your son and practice it with him. also you could get him involved in an after school program or a tutor.

Your son is only five years old. He is going to forget for quite a while. Quit comparing HIM to his sister, he is NOT his sister, he is a totally different individual than his sister, not her clone.
