I get panic attacks
I feel like I cant sit still, I have to leave the room
I cant hold a pen or pencil because I am shaking
my heart is pounding
I am sweating
Tunnel vision
like I am going insane with fear
(I have test phobia and social phobia)
It hits at strange times even if I dont feel very uncomfortable, it's immediate and can last for hours or minutes. After I am drained of energy usually have a headache and need to sleep.

Different people have different symptoms, but some seem to be common....mine are the following:
- sweating
- feeling of doom
- flight response
- short on saliva
- heart pounding
- can't think straight
- numbness in fingers
....I'm no doctor, but I have been dealing with this for a while and can offer some tips on what to do....
- "stay" with your panic attack (i.e. don't try and fight it or it will become stronger)
- deep breathing
- remember that it will naturally go away (they always do....they never last too long...although you can feel scared afterwards for a while)
- recall that you're not alone with this (that helps me)
- remember that it's not dangerous, even if it is the worst feeling in the world
- don't over analyse the why when you get the symptoms,...it's not the time to do this.
- remember that the thoughts you have when you're going through this are likely irrational, so don't buy into them too much.
- Just let it run its course.....
If they do reoccur, seek professional help.....although your best friend in this is YOU. Best of luck.......

I am single mum. I have been suffering for panic attacks for some 15 years now, though it was not until recently I understood what they were. They were progressively getting stronger and more frequent, stopping me from some days even leaving my house. I read this book and it all made perfect sense.
I am not saying I was not terrified of putting theory to action, I was more scared of that than the next attack! But I decided to view it as a game, one I had control of and could therefore not lose!

I would recommend that you go to the US governments website that has fact sheets.: I found the page for anxiety disorders for you
http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/anxiety-disorders/index.shtml
General anxiety is a pervasive sense of unease, but panic is a sudden onset of fearfulness that may feel like trouble breathing, headaches, etc
Both can be treated by medications.

Typically, attacks are triggered by certain situations.
See a counsellor (physician or at school) to get help.
The 'cure' is usually to desensitize you to the situation.
That can be done be safe gradual exposure to h your fears.

best way to know is ask a doctor but I'd "google" and do some research that way.
