It's not indifference, and it's hard to get any support broadcast through the filter of the mainstream press.
Good news for America is bad news for the Democrats and their willing accomplices in the media. Secondly, 3815 is not a very big number compared to past wars, and who wants to dwell on our losses in the midst of victory?

More People in Detroit have been killed than U.S. soldiers in Iraq since the beginning of this war! Why is that not plastered all over the news? Directly after 911 everyone was screaming for us to go kick someones @$$! Some of these same people are the people who started crying out about the war after the first American soldiers got killed. It was all over the news then! Everybody wants to hear new news after it is not the newest biggest story it loses its thunder. Some Americans are not indifferent about the news! Only the ones who don't have any direct effect on them are the ones who act that way! Some of those same people are the ones who will protest whats going on! Its a very sad truth! I have one brother who was wounded in combat. 2 still there and a close family friend who is a double amputee from the war. Both who are wounded wish that they could go back but cannot because of their injuries! I also have other members of my family that are there now. You only hear about the people crying about being there. You never hear about the people who don't want to leave until the situation gets better or the soldiers who want to go back, because that doesn't make for the best news story! We as Americans only have the life and rights that we have because of the things that our soldiers do! No one made them sign up they did it out of their own free will. People want to compare this to NAM, there was no draft for this! You can do what you are doing on Yahoo! answers mostly because of the rights you have that soldiers have fought and died for!

That would depend upon the side of the issue you are on. The lib's control the news media and are skewing the news to fit their agenda. The conservatives are trying to get a different message out but with no real vehicle to do it with.
The other thing to remember is that the American people want winners, that does not mean that they have forgotten about those who have sacrificed the most but that there is nothing to be gained by dwelling on what has been lost. We honor those who have given all by completing the task that they began.

There are plenty of us out here who care about the 3800+ dead troops and 30,000+ wounded. We think about them everyday and what a challenge it is to come back from a war wounded, and to face the world with PTSD.
It saddens me and enrages me that we are sending our troops into situations in which they can only come out traumatized by what they witnessed and/or participated in.
The Spears stuff is just RIF-RAF *buls**t. I get my news online, this way I can filter through all the crap, and don't have to be subjected to it.

Hello!
I think today we rely to much on what the media is putting out.
There are many in society who care about the troops and uphold them in prayer.
These gallant men who have lost their lives are heroes and died as such .
The fragrant memories of them linger on.
God Bless.
Take care!

first, no one is indifferent. the problem is the pelosi reid regime wants to use them as a mask to grab power, thats why the constant pork spending attached to defense bills to buy favors. and they also want to whip up negative frenzy to attach some kind of fervor to the intensity of the liberal bravado. the problem is the electorate is starting to wake up and smell the coffee, and thats why the pelosi reid regime has an approval rating of one third the presidents.
the conservatives understand the sacrifice but also understand the need for democracy in the middle east and are trying desparately to obtain it despite the whining and posturing of the democrats. the only thing you see is information filtered through liberal media bias, not unvarnished reality.

what do you mean "Americans don't care?"
I don't remember being ASKED what I wanted to see on TV. And if I had been, I sure as hell wouldn't ever utter the words "Spears" or hilton or any other talentless piece of self-important trash.

Out troops aren't looking for sympathy. What they need is the support of people who believe they can get the job done.

I cannot help but to think that it is Vietnam all over again!!!
I go to work everyday, and ultimately, the topic comes up! I would say 80% of the people that I talk to say that we shouldn't have been there in the first place!
It's TOTAL crap that we care more about what happens to Brittany or Lindsay in the news than the lives that are lost everyday because of this war we should not be in in the first place!!!
They waged this war upon us, because of the way we live our lives, we go there trying to change the way that THEY live thiers, OF COURSE they will fight us! They PUNISHED us because they hated the way that we live! There is no validation for that, but that is what happened! To go there and try to change thier beliefs to make them more congruant with ours is STUPID!!! They attacked us for what WE believe, the messege we should be sending is "You people believe what you want and run your life accordingly, keep the way that we run our life out of it!!! You are on your own little piece of this earth, if that is how you want to run it, so beit!"
To try to change the way that they run thier lives makes what THEY DID acceptable in trying to change the way WE run OURS!!!
