I'm not sure what your question is. Where are you moving that you can't take your dog? There are always places for dogs to live. You just have to look harder.

I am so sorry about having to get rid of your dog. I do not know your circumstances about not keeping it but, First of all do not take it to a pound where they put the animals to sleep, actually don't take your dog to a pound take it to a shelter. Those are normal better at taking care of the animals or (this is a happier choice I promise.) You can talk to your friends about taking your dog for you. That way if you ever visit you can see your puppy and you can see how she is doing by just calling your friend. I would personally put ads up on the internet and at different places and try to find a home for it. I care about animals so friendy advice (I am saying this as a friend) USE THE POUND OR SHELTER AS A LAST RESORT. I think that you can find the right home for this puppy. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! I hope it all works out for you and YOU and your puppy are happy in the end.

Look into all aspects of it, can you find any way at all to move with your pet? Look into the ASPCA site for ideas. Also if you must give up the hound, look for a breed rescue, they are always no-kill and work hard to place the dogs they come across. Research your local shelter groups, and do not leave him with a shelter that practices euthansia. Good luck and god bless, I know how hard this decision can be.

If you really have no options, and sometimes we don't, the best thing you can do is try to find a home for him before your move date. Some suggestions that can get you a response are Craigslist (craigslist.com), posting flyers at your and other vet offices, and running newspaper ads. This also allows you to screen potential new homes for yourself.

If you don't have time enough to do this, I agree that you should try to contact rescues in your area to see if they can help, although this may take some luck since most rescues tend to always be at capacity for the number of dogs they can handle... they come in faster than they go out.

when i moved i couldnt find a place i could afford that would allow my pets so i kept them at my sisters until i could find a place. i cked w/ animal foster familys but w/no luck and it got very scary and stressful so my sister took them in till i found a place which took a couple months. i ended up buying a cheap old mobile home in a decent mobile community so we could all be together and im glad i did. i now have a hound mix myself and she is wonderful. i hope it works out for you and your doggie. best to you both

Why does everybody just think they can toss their pets whenever things don't go their way?
If you had a child and were moving would you give the child to the adoption agency? Probably not. So why your dog?
If it were me moving and I couldn't take my pet with me there's no way I'd go anywhere.
The only reason I could think of that you had to leave your animal is if you still lived with your parents and had no choice. Otherwise, no excuse except that your dog doesn't mean as much to you as you think.

If there is really no way of taking your beloved friend, I would find a breed rescue in your area so he will be able to find a new home. Good luck!

I would defiantly look into a rescue in your area, ones where they are fostered in homes.. that is really too bad that you can't take your dog with you... look into the rescues- it will be better than a shelter!
