I used to go out with a girl named Cherry. She was very beautiful and sexy. But there was something about her that made me nervous. I didn't know what it was, but I couldn't stop thinking about her. She made dinner for me a couple of times at her apartment, which was lovely, and she drove a nice, newish Honda. Her eyes sparkled as she talked or listened to me. I was enamored, but... she made me nervous.
One day, after we had been going out for a few weeks, she asked me to move in with her.
I said "no thank you, and I think we shouldn't see each other anymore"
I don't know where these words came from, because she was like a playboy centerfold and really seemed to like me alot. To this day, I don't know why I said that. But, we never went out again.
About a month after breaking it off with her, I learned that she had a guy move in with her. She stabbed him to death in bed with a bread knife. This is a true story.
So, either I should listen to my instincts or not date fruits.

I wonder what he said or did that made him greet his fate so swiftly?

Of course, if you had said yes, it doesn't mean that your fate would be his... seems to me you could talk your way out of the problem!

Maybe it was simply intuition that saved you? I think you should stick to that notion. There's bound to be another fruit out there just waiting for you to date her properly.
