Some people, like Senator Joe Biden, who is a presidential contender, believe that one way to curb violence in Iraq is to divide this country into three separate territories....Shiite, Sunni and Kurd, with oil profits divided equally between them. However, the Iraqi government is vehemently against this. Do you think this idea would work and would help in calming the bloodshed that takes place in that country every day?

Yes, I think that it is a great idea. That is the only way that there will be peace in Iraq We are never going to stop the civil war that they have going. It has been going on for years and it is not going to stop just because we invaded their country and are trying to unite them.
The problem is that we can't look like we are leading them in any certain direction because, after all, they are suppose to be a free governing democracy.

I think the US should stop taking responsibility for what goes on in the middle east. The US should reduce its dependence on oil and let those people work out their own problems instead.

If splitting the country up is the fastest way these geniuses can devise to get us out of there, fine.

Yes I think it probably would reduce violence, at least in the short term.

The Kurdish region is semi-autonomous, but a complete division isn't possible, and as usual, the differences in Sen. Biden's position and al Maliki's aren't as great as portrayed in the media. This sort of inflammatory overstatement simply goes into the trash-bin of shoddy journalism, along with most of the rest of what's out there parading as news.

It's their country and they are going to do what they want with it after the US leaves. What you and I think doesn't count.
