It is a question that is asked all the time, but I feel like I should ask it. I know that some answers to this question will be cruel and mocking, but I want to understand why men think that they have more power/don't need God.

I understand that we will always be insulted, and that we must stick by our faith.

There are some things about Christianity that are simple. I wouldn't say that anyone, as a Christian, is simple-minded because of their faith. We choose to believe in God and worship him, and that is our SIMPLE answer.

Some people mock what they don't understand; the concept of knowing God is something most of them will never be able to grasp. Some have implied a feeling of inferiority to Christians, so that may lead to mocking or insulting behavior.

But to me, mocking is not only a given, but is welcome. As others have quoted in Matthew 5:10-11, Jesus says "blessed are you when people insult you because of me." Not only does this bring us more blessings, but get this: When people mock and insult us, they are actually proving Jesus' prophecies in the scriptures to be true! How ironic is that. So be blessed!

As much as I really hate to admit this, what it comes down to is the mockery that Christians have made of Christianity. It is not our faith that bothers most of the people who mock, it is the hypocrisy they see in the visible church. For instance, Phelps and his gang, and they are only the tip of the iceberg.
If we had been paying attention, we would have expected this to happen. Didn't Peter warn us that judgment would begin in the House of the Lord? Doesn't Revelation warn us that it is given to the Beast to make war with the Saints, AND OVERCOME them? While everyone is looking for a man to arise that is the "Antichrist", what they don't realise is that the spirit that is antichrist, as Paul warned, has crept into the church itself, and, in many cases, is preaching from behind the pulpit.
If I were not a Christian already, I would also be laughing my behind off at the ridiculous sight of people lining up at an altar to be "slain", or people rolling around on the floor making noises like farm animals, or babbling nonsense and honestly thinking that this ridiculous behavior somehow makes them "holy". As it is, I am ashamed.
It is not that these people think that they have more power than God...but one can readily see why they would totally not want anything to do with a god that has such foolish, not to mention greedy, men and women as his representatives.
OH, and btw, the lack of capitalization in my last sentence was NOT accidental...

If you hold any belief someone's going to make fun of you, and if you're really unlucky someone will persecute you. Fortunately for Christians there are too many of them to be persecuted (except in countries where another religion is predominant like Pakistan).

Some Christian beliefs are, you've got to face it, a little bit odd. Also, some Christians shout said beliefs with a perfectly straight face and demand that everyone agree with them or else. Any piss-taking that occurs as a result of this has very little to do with having more power than God, or even the concept of God at all.

Isn't that kind of like two questions? I mean you want to know why Christians are mocked but you're pondering why men think they have more power and don't have to believe in God.

So question one: In my humble opinion only those who doubt their faith feel they are being mocked. A true believer in any faith is never ashamed and doesn't look at it as being mocked. A true believer smiles and knows in their heart they have peace. So my answer would be that certain Christians feel mocked because they have doubts in their faith (but that is not exclusive to the Christian faith.....it comes with any)

Question Two: I've run across men who have had "God" complexes meaning they felt they were immortal and perceiveably on par with him so who needs him thing, but I've run across alot of "Goddess" complexes too. That too is not exclusive.

Faith is a personal thing and not a gender thing. My suggestion.....believe harder and what others opinions are won't bother you....and if you don't think you can....find something that you can believe in and a partner who feels the same way.

And yes, I'm a Pagan , but I mock no one and notice no one ever mocking me.

From the times past till today, if your a child of God you will always be persecuted and ridiculed. Not just for you faith, but because you are a "called out one" meaning that we are called to be appart from the world and all its sin. We have to live in the world, but nopt be a part of it.

Everyone has different beliefs but not everyone respects those of other people. Every religion is made fun of, including Atheism, which I am a part of. It's just human nature.

And sorry, but I do feel I don't need God. Doesn't mean I trash Christians cause they think they do.

It would seem that because they can not understand, it makes them feel insecure. This is especially true of people who are very smart. They have never had a problem understanding anything else in their lives, but this. They feel a need to dismiss it because it doesn't make sense to them. Faith is a gift. It has nothing to do with how smart or knowledgeable you are. Pray for them.

I respect Christianity, I do not respect it's methods. I am tired of being told I am being saved for my own good, that I am lost or mis lead as if I am not intelligent enough to make my own choices and I am tired of MY gods being called false or evil all in the name of furthering Christianity.
Most people feel like me. Hence we tend to get a little ugly with the Christians.

You are approaching this from the wrong perspective so naturally it doesn't make sense. I don't think I am more powerful than god any more than you don't think that you are more powerful than Odin. I just don't believe that ANY gods exist, not the whole Greco-Roman pantheon, not your God of Abraham. It has nothing to do with pride or ego. Sorry you don't get it.

And, I make fun of Christians because you are silly, you make me laugh, and more than anything you amaze me with your simple mindedness and ignorance.
