I would answer like this: if you are looking at the position solely for experience sake without putting money into consideration (meaning, if you can pay for school and survive well without the job) then do not take the position. ANYONE can get an accounting clerk position... even without a degree or experience. By nature, clerk positions are very junior and very easy to get. If anything I would tell you to double up on courses and get out quicker rather than later.
Competitive jobs await for accounting majors... TRUST ME!

Honestly, I'd take the 50/50 bet on this...Check with your school as one of the others had said and see if there are any internships or course-schedule friendly jobs (IE: part-time/flex-time) that will give you reasonable exposure (not just a company that slaps "intern" on your head and sends you to get coffee) to the industry itself. Even if it's the most junior of positions it gives you the chance to see if you really want to stay in the field. Education is important, but if you can't develop some kind of work ethic or co-worker management skills to go along with it it's just knowledge.

Take the job. It will give you a perspective into the field. After you see what it's really like, you might just decide to go another direction. In Southern California, all the accountants are Vietnamese. You can't find a white, black or Hispanic person doing accounting. Unfortunately for everyone else, most Vietnamese in Southern California don't speak English. Make's is really difficult!!!

I would suggest trying to find an internship through your school so that so can get practical experience, college credit and stay on track with graduating. Also there is a good chance you can find a paying internship that puts cash in your pocket too! That way you can graduate on time and gain real world experience. Contact your college adviser for information.

Another alternative would be to complete your degree, but be sure to include an internship - then you'd graduate with some experience, which would make it easier to get a job than if you graduate with no work experience in the field.
