I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that, but it seems to cakey and not very dough-like. I'm not very good at baking, so what should I do? I followed the recipe and everything.

It's a sugar cookie and the recipe doesn't call for water or milk. Any rude comments will be ignored, so answer only if you can help please.

If it's a sugar cookie recipe that you're supposed to be able to roll and cut out shapes, there's definitely something wrong. If you've never used that recipe before, there could be a typo in it. Or maybe your eggs are too large. Most recipes assume large eggs, not extra large or jumbo eggs. The eggs might have resulted in too much liquid vs. dry ingredients.

If it's only a little "loose" for rolling out or forming balls, etc., try adding a little more flour and then make sure your board and rolling pin are floured. But if you add too much flour, they won't taste very good. If it's a drop cookie, just try baking one pan and then decide.

bake a test cookie with the batter you made and see if it turns out the way you like it or not. If it is too runny, add 1/4 cup flour more and test again. Keep trying till you get it right then remember how much flour you added and correct the recipe you followed.

there's a reasonable danger you may get salmonella from the eggs. this is uncommon and by no potential has stopped absolutely everyone from ingesting cake batter or cookie dough. So in case you elect to proceed to consume the two decide for it, there is an fairly slender danger something will happen.

How about baking it as bars or brownies in a pan and add some chocolate chips and nuts to it, then cover it with some Betty Crocker icing? Call it a 'special cross between a cake and a bar' or something like that.
