I would have loved to have gotten more diapers and gift certificates. DO NOT get clothes. Everyone gets clothes and yes you absolutely can have too many clothes. Especially since she will most likely be wearing just onesies or sleepers for the first few months. If you do go bigger sizes. You gift should be something she can use. I have also done the gift basket thing except for I got a baby bath tub and filled it with bath items....lotion, shampoo, clippers, towels, wash clothes, etc. The clothes and stuffed animals may get the oohs and aahs but I am sure that she will already have plenty.

Well it's about giving a gift to the new little person. So just buy what you like, set a dollar amount befor you set off to go shopping and then get something you think is really cute. The cuter the gift the more oooohs and ahhhhs the gift will get when it's opened. And those are fun to hear, especially when it's your gift being opened. Also personalized gifts are great.

No to Diapers...you don't know what brand she will like!

Get a little basket at Wal-Mart for around $3 a baby blanket $3 and then fill it with random things.

rattle for car seat
play toy
play book red and white
baby lotion and soap
binkie clip
just some cute small things...fill the basket make it look pretty. If your good friends make the basket as big as you think it should be.

very cute!!!

She may be registered somewhere. Check the major retailors (target, macy's, etc.) and search for her name.

If not, she could always use onesies, bibs, diapers, burp cloths, gift cards, etc.

Or for something for HER, get her a massage gift certificate, or a relaxation gift basket (lotions, body exfoliant, bubble bath, chocolate--that kind of stuff)

Does she have a gift registry at any store? If she does get her something more inexpensive off of that.
If not, maybe an inexpensive toy or some neutral baby clothes.

Give a "Gift certificate" for a store that handles baby things, that way she can get what she needs after she finds out what she gets.

I would say some disposable diapers and maybe a gift card so she can get what she does not have or get at shower.
