What happened to the indestructabe black boxes from the planes in 9/11 attack?

To everybody who is saying that the boxes were destroyed, can I ask you just one question?

If a black box can't survive crashing through a building, burning in jet fuel and getting crushed under all the rubble. How comes the FBI say that they found one of the terrorists passports a few blocks from ground zero? What are the chances of that really happening?

Well, while the "black box" is engineered to withstand a great deal of punishment, is not indestructible. In 2006 a partial transcript from Flt 93"s "black box" was released to the public during the trial of Zacarias Moussaoui. Flt 77's "black box" was recovered but no information was released. The "black boxes" from Flt 11 and Flt 175 were never recovered, which is understandable.

If you watched the video of the plane hitting the second tower, you will have no doubt seen that very little came out the other side of the building. The angle of the plane took it through several floors. What small pieces of the boxes that may have survived the impact were surely disintegrated in the jet fuel fire that ensued.

What would be learned from them? The whole point of the black boxes is to determine what made a plane crash. We knew what caused all 4 to crash so finding it would accomplish and turn up nothing.

Black Boxes are not Indestructible, frequently they are damaged in crashes and provide little or no information.

By the way when the terrorist-hijackers closed down the transponders they also disabled the black-box recorders.

In an explosion and destruction like that, I'd doubt investigators could find them. The question has been raised before, but because of the dramatic losses and the people responsible, I really don't think the black boxes could help us out even now.

Black boxes help identify how a plane crashed and what the significant causes were. On 9/11, we already knew what was wrong and how the plane crashed as well.

Three of the four black boxes were found by the New York City Fire Department and turned over to the FBI where they have not been seen since. I would venture to guess they're in some forgotten storeroom in the basement.

Two black boxes, about 2ftx1ftx6in were rammed into buildings at 200mph. Then covered in burning jet fuel, for 40 minutes, plunged 1000's of feet, and had several dozen stories of falling building land on them.

What what, they didnt pop out and say heeeey were over here, come get us, we survived!?????
