It only seems fair to me.

Turkey and the Unites States have very strong ties, and have been allies for more than 50 years. The Turkish and Turkish-American people are merely asking for a joint Turkish-Armenian committee of experts to be established to conduct an open and rigorous historical and legal investigation that would include Armenia, Turkey, and other countries opening their archives to the investigators. This joint committee would allow the Turkish and Turkish-American people fair and unbiased representation.

Until that time, Say “NO” to the Armenian Diaspora’s endless manipulation of the American polity by saying "NO" to H.RES.106.

The resolution has been dropped at this time

REPRODUCTION OF THE STATEMENT BY AMERICAN SCHOLARS AND
HISTORIANS ADDRESSED TO THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
(Published in New York Times on May 19,1985)

You can find this statement completely on the second link given below...

Let me paste beginning:

ATTENTION
MEMBERS OF THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
(May 19, 1985)
The undersigned American academicians who specialize in Turkish, Ottoman
and Middle Eastern Studies are concerned that the current language embodied in House Joint Resolution 192 is misleading and/or inaccurate in several respects.
Specifically, while fully supporting the concept of a "National Day of Remembrance of Man's Inhumanity to Man," we respectfully take exception to that portion of the text which singles out for special recognition: "... the one and one half million people of Armenian ancestry who were victims of genocide perpetrated in Turkey between 1915 and 1923 . . .."
Our reservations focus on the use of the words "Turkey" and "genocide" and may
be summarized as follows:.........

Let me add more:
Voltaire (I believe you know who is he) said that:

"Great Turks rule 20 nations of various religions in peace. They taught Christians to be moderate in war and tender in victory."

Phillip Marshall Brown:

"In spite of the great victory that they gained, Turks generously granted to the people of the places they conquest the right to self-rule with their own laws and traditions."

J.W. Arnold:

"It is a fact that can not be denied by the history that Turkish armies did not intervene with the religion and culture at the places they conquest."

German General Bronsart:

"Turks are the most tolerant people of the world towards people of other religions unless they are disturbed."

Finally, I would like to give the following example: Napoleon Bonaparte considers to make the Catholic Armenians in Ottoman Empire rebel against the administration and take some kind of revenge upon Akka defeat. He asks whether this would be possible to his Ambassador in Istanbul. The reply of the Ambassador is clear and definite:

"Armenians are so pleased with their lives that this is impossible."

Do you need more my dear Armenian friends?

:)

If the government of Turkey is that sincere, they had 92 years to do this, long before ANY country accepted the Armenian Genocide. Now the whole Europe has already accepted the Armenian massacres as Genocide, Turkey blocked the border with Armenia for more that 16 years, Armenian went through a lot of hardship. Turkey made the article 301 specially for the denial of Armenian Genocide, and prosecuted Orhan Pamuk, Hrant Dink, Elif Shafak, and many others. Turkey fed the general public with hate towards Armenia by rewriting history and showing propaganda consistently.

Today Turkey is asking Armenia to open the archives. lol For what?? They all know what the real fact is. Russia has the archives, and also the Treaty of Sevres. Opening of the archives will not bring Turkey any good, because whole world has one history but Turkey has twisted history and rewritten history in its favor. Turkey is on the last breath they are doing everything in their power to veto the res. 106.

Turkey has a very short memory, they just forget that they did not let USA to use the base in Incirlik during the Iraq war. Turkey said that the relations with France will be deadly once France makes it a law that denying the Armenian Genocide is a crime, but as a matter of fact the diplomatic, and business relations have tripled lately.

ALSO: Turkey says that if the resolution passes that will damage the reconciliation process between Armenia and Turkey. As a matter of fact there is no diplomatic relation between the two, not to mention if there is ANY reconciliation process.

I need to get this out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we all ,and I mean all know what the Turks did in the last 500 years!!!! the proof is overwhelming! There needs to be no discussion ,there needs not be a another inquiring of past atrocities , what has been done has been done!
Armenians are a proud international Gem ,Armenia DOES NOT NEED A COUNTRY LIKE TURKEY TO ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT IS HAS COMMITTED,BECAUSE THE WHOLE WORLD WAS WITTINESS TO IT,AND IS CONTINUING TO WITTINESS Turkeys DEMEANOR TOWARDS THE REST OF THE WORLD! (excluding Turks who had just about enough of the crap their own nation does, there are those too)!

I wish from the bottom of my heart that you guys get justice and acknowledgment ,but you don't and you never will!

but here is a clue! when you go to Chicago for example ,you don't see Turkish town ,you see Greek town!

DO YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN???? globally Armenians have a great reputation ,they have self worth , pride and have integrity! your culture has and always will be a center of society! so go with the rest of the world in Peace!

BUILD ON IT PPL ,BECAUSE YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO BUILD ON YOUR ENEMY!

now watch a Turk come give me thumbs ,down and try to give me a violation! HA HA like it matters, it just shows how weak they are and are not able to verbally express themselves! I am looking forward to it!

Interesting arguments will determine the faith of this topic, not necessarily what really happened. Also, politics of the new world order will determine when it would be made a spectacle.

These archives the Turkish claim they have, would those be the same archives that historians all over the world say are not accurate? .

Now as far as the Armenians archives during that time period, how much could of been documented as Armenians were being butchered, and deported. Vital records were burned and buildings with records were destroyed. Keep asking for them though, I call it "the great stall maneuver of the Turkish government".

Historians relied on the records of the worlds eye witness accounts, court documents and their own archives.

The U.S. is well aware of Turkey's allegations but compared them to what the rest of the world's witnessed and documented accounts, the U.S. has logically concluded Turkey's archives are worthless.

The Armenian Resolution is set to hit Congress this week.
When passed it will insure that history will jive all over the world including Turkey.

The threats made by Turkey about the consequences of the resolution being passed is just a great example of what a great "ally" Turkey has been to the US.

This generation does not live in hate we are educated and understand the importance of being educated.

Great answer Alana but I am sure it will be gone soon as all your other great answers were.

Yes...LET the thumbs down begin!! Plenty of research has been done already!!!! Almost every western scholar agrees is was GENOCIDE!

If your idea is "fair"...then lets open up a discussion with Germany and Jews and the rest of the world to see whether the Holocaust really happened.
Heck..lets really question the events happening in Darfur, or what happened in Rwanda and whether those REALLY were genocide or not!!!

Mr Bobo: you talk about fair.. lets talk about how fair it is to have your people's history denied.

Lets talk about my raped grandmother. Lets talk about how a turkish soldier stuck a sword in her mother's pregnant stomach, lets talk about the Armenian having to drink their own urine in order to survive the barren deserts, lets talk about how your government put a Nobel prize winning author in prison. Lets talk about how a turkish-Armenian journalist was assassinated in front of his office (just because he used the "g" word), lets talk about how your government has shunned Taner Achem (another author who uses the "g" word), lets talk about all the family members the Armenians, Assyrians and the Greeks have lost...and then you can have the balls to say "its only fair"!!!!!!!!!!

I will always say " NO ".
To alana : Turkey always supported the USA as Turkey supported them in Gulf War. Turkey lost hundreds of billions of dollars. Although the USA guaranteed Turkey compensation for its losses, they did not compensate anything at all. Why would Turkey have trusted them, the same country and the president who is the former president's son.

Edit : Thousands of Turkish soldiers died because of the wars the USA started or contributed. American soldiers have
never fought against PKK.
I have to admit you made me laugh. The he-she lol! Are all of you homophobic or what?

Edit : Are you sure? What is the reason Israel and Egypt receive a lot of money from the USA? Do they help them in anything? The answer is " NO ". Turkey lost hundreds of billions of dollars and got 8.5 billion of dollars! That is TOO MUCH ( NOT!! ).

Edit : First, you are not even close to my class. Are you really in politics? I do not think so. You cannot answer back, but try to attack my personality, which shows your personality. Second, transvestites' appearances are like women. I am sure you can find some like yourself. I am a man whatever I like.

Edit : Thank you, slaveof12Gods, for letting us know you do not care, as all of us were about to start worrying whether you care or not.

There are those who take the hand we are extending. By time there will be more. And more. And more...

As I was saying to a friend the other day, Anatolian Armenians lived through a great trauma. They rebelled to the Ottoman regime, but they failed to take Anatolian land and were exiled from the battle front. Now they must have somebody to blame for everything they have lived through. So, they have hung upon the genocide tale to come over the trauma. The sad thing is, you cannot do this by making your old enemy evil. You have to face the truth and accept your role in it.

And opening the archives is a good step to achieve that. Looking at the trolls, I see that this generation is lost. They live in hate. I just hope better for the next generation.

Hi,

To Alana,
Dear Alana,
I got it your answer, definitely ...
But, I did not understand why do you accuse us ..

You must know, Turkiye is not a Banana Republic or any Arabic Country ...
Turkiye is a Democratic Country, and we have our Parliament ...
Member of Parliaments are free, they can say 'Yes' or 'No',
it is their decision ...
US did not understand Turkiye, They did not listen what we said and They trusted so much themselves ...

Cheers

***
Edit For Alana,
Dear Alana,
You are talking about money, but you must know the problem is not money ...
I said it again, US did not listen what we said and talked about ...
Money is second subject ...
The important thing is Friendship and listening each other, But US did not know, what is the Friendship meaning ?
If you want, you can ask any question for us ...
See You

***
To Katakuichi,
Welcome, we missed you, where have you been ?
Regards
