I know at least 3 people that received notices that they were overpayed and now owe thousands of dollars back with interest. How do we know if they were overpaid or under paid without an audit?

Not a whole lot to go on here. go to www.socialsecurity.gov and you should find your answer.

If you're saying you want to see what they have for your earnings, you can requiest an earning statement at ssa.gov
