Ghosts are not real.

Ectoplasm is the outer bodily regions of the jelly fish.

The type of ectoplasm portrayed in the movie Ghostbusters, does not exist.

From the "angels that came down to earth, and had relations with the women, producing the Nephilim, because of their wickedness, those of the Nephilim and those of the angels who had given up their place in the heavenly places, were destroyed by the flood, the 'fallen angels' lost their bodies, never to be able to use a body again, so now they use their "sprit", they came from the spiritual realm. To pretend they are the loved ones we have lost, they are actually demons. Genesis 6 - Deuteronomy 32:17, - 1 Corinthians 10:21, - 1 Timothy 4:1,- James 2:19, - Revelation 16: 14, - Ps 106:37,- Matthew 12:24,- 1 Corinthians 10:20,- Revelation 18:2

The being we believe to exist are
Humans
Demons (fire)
Angels (light)

maybe people mistaken Demons (jin) for what they call ghosts. Thats when demons take the shape of humans.

Or if you mean Ghost as a human soul. The answer to that question is only God knows. It is well known in all religions decended by God to humans that no one knows what is the soul exactly. Even the jews at the time of Mohammad PBUH challenged him and asked him what is the soul. And he gave them the answer they knew and were expecting. This is also translated from the Quran as follows:
Surat Al-ISraa #17;85. They ask thee concerning the Spirit (of inspiration). Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men!)"

Other than those we know nothing about the existance of Ghosts.

Don't quite follow your insight, so assume someone has given you this theory?

Man is a tri-partite being, (spirit soul and body) Our spirit is that which is communicating right now (what makes us who we are).

God created our spirit and it inhabits a body whilst alive and on earth. At the point of death, our spirit leaves our body and inhabits an eternal space (either heaven or hell).

Some would call this spirit world ghostly, others wouldn't. Everyone has an opinion about this and at the point of death you can make your own mind up. :)

Ghosts are typically souls who are trapped between worlds. That is they are souls who have lived on the earth and there bodies have died however they have not accepted it and/or have a stronger attraction to the material world then the spirit. Many need help and guidance just like the living.

Ghost are created when you mix two parts cheese with 1.57389 parts motor oil. If you are off by even the slightest amount you don't get a ghost, you get oily cheese. If you want a friendly ghost, use gouda cheese, if you want a mean ghost use extra sharp cheddar.
