I'd have to say definitely yes.I think he has 3 or 4 more Championships left in him after this year. He's not my favorite driver but he has more than earned my respect .

I was going to ask this same question to see how others felt. Like another answered, his toughest competition is the guy he brought into NASCAR (#48). I would love to see Jeff at least tie Dale and Richard, but there sure is a lot of competition in the modern era. It used to be there were only a handful of good teams, but now you never know who may win on Sunday. I think Jeff has a chance to break the championship record, but I don't foresee anyone ever breaking Richard Petty's wins record of 200.

I always hear there is a lot of competition and talent these days.... there was a lot in the old days as well. And if NASCAR was racing under the old system the last four seasons, Gordon would already have 6 Championships.... one away from the tie with another 10-15 years left in his career. So, with all the talent and all the competition today, Gordon still rocks! Hate him, call him names, boo him at the track... he is still going down in the history books as a legend!

I hope so, but he has said he will quit when he is 40. Ah, it would be so great to shut up the Earnhardt fans with Jeff getting an 8th Championship. Odds are better that Jeff will get 8 than Jr winning even the 4 Jeff already has.

Jeff Gordon might break the record, who knows? The Chase has made handicapping title hopefuls very difficult. All year long 24 and 48 have been dominant. Now, six races to go, teams that barely made the chase have closed in on the leaders. Doesn't really seem fair, does it?

He has the smarts for it, It'll be a day to remember when he beats Dale Earnhardts record, but Jeff Gordon is very good at what he does. He'll be not the king, that names been taken. Jeff will just be the winner, He need's no title.

As nice as it would be, I have to say no. It's just to hard with
the chase now. And I think that Jeff will be happy to get his
5th cup and then concentrate on bringing up the younger
drivers. After all, that is the direction that NASCAR is going
now.

Oh I hope so! As long as he finishes ahead of Tony Stewart I will be happy! As for another championship? He's got as good a chance as any of them! His team mate is his biggest competition right now! Even if Jimmie wins, Jeff wins, too!
