Wont work for everyone and I've only done it once.
I was very pregnant and being small in stature I looked more pregnant than I was. I was already booked into the maternity hospital in the town where we were buying the house. I turned up at the solicitor's office without an appointment. I asked to see the solicitor, huffed and puffed a bit and was asked to wait. After 10 minutes, I was ushered into his office. His desk was littered with papers and he said, 'I'm dealing with it right now.'
I said, 'You've had 10 minutes to spread those papers out on your desk. Get on with it!' The sale was completed within 2 weeks.
I was 22 at the time. My mother.in-law said, 'You can't speak to a solicitor like that.' To which I replied, 'Your son is the client, and the solicitor is supposed to be working for him.'
I'd go to his office and sit there until you get satisfaction. If you ring, then you should insist on speaking to the solicitor personally and not be fobbed off with promises from his subordinates.

I put a shared ownership up for sale August '06.The second viewer ended up buying the house. It was sold on February '07 !!!My solicitors, the housing association and the buyers solicitors never stoped blaming each other till the last day !!!They communicate between them via post ,internal or external. We are In the midlle of a postal strike as well.Do yourself a favour.Stop calling them every week. They react negatively to people who try to make them work for their money and everything has got to be **** and span,so to speak,as they always want to have their backs covered.6 months from putting in in the market seems normal!!!Sorry ,but it seems you got a few months wait.Best of luck.

This is often a misunderstanding. Most delays in this type of matter lie with others, such as local authority search. Delay in the other party replying to correspondence. Land registry searches to satisfy your solicitor that you have the right to sell or the wherewithal to buy
