Back in World War Two, many top baseball players served in the military. Among them: Bob Feller, Ted Williams, Jackie Robinson, Hank Greenberg, Joe DiMaggio and Yogi Berra. Other than Pat Tillman, who has volunteered? If we are in a fight for civilization, as President Bush says, why don't we see more celebrity volunteers? Sean Hannity, are you listening?

Conrang... the point of this 'rant' is that PERHAPS this war isn't quite the 'war for civilization' that Bush paints it. I wouldn't volunteer for this war, nor did I volunteer for Viet Nam (I was of the age at the time). This 'war' has lasted longer than World War 2 (for the US) and there's no end in sight.

My point is that this war is NOT the equivalent of WW2, and it's not even close.

Maybe they are just too smart to volunteer for a useless war.. How can you compare WWII to Bush's folly?
