my scanner will scan the object but then the it will turn completely black!?

okay i have a pretty old paperport once touch scanner.
i've been trying to scan some things but it'll scan the picture, then when it's done, the entire thing will go black and say that it's finished scanning??
it's entirely strange.
and i have no idea what to do!

HELP!

maybe it is a hardware problem...
are you using the correct driver for the scanner?
is there a light when scanning....
if everything fails then you might have a dead scanner.... try to buy a new one....

Try updating the software drivers.
