I have an x-friend who put out anti-freeze in a dish and watched the dog lick it and eat the meat she put in with it. The dog would come back for more more then once. This dog is still alive. So, I'm wondering if it really does kill a dog and if so, why is that dog still alive when I thought they only had to have alittle in order to kill them?

Bad human! Smack her with a rolled up newspaper. There are some newer anti-freezes that are not as toxic, hopefully the dog got that. There is a bill in congress to make Manufacturers of toxic anti-freezes add an inexpensive bittering agent to protect children, pets and livestock. Your x friend should be reported.

Yes it will kill a dog. If enough gets in the dog's system, it will eventually die. Please do something about this. Turn that person in. The dog might not have enough in her system yet to bring her down because I know a dog that got into a whole pan of fudge brownies and didn't even get sick. Some dogs have iron stomachs. Don't let the dog eat/drink the antifreeze. Report that person in.

Yes anti-freeze is deadly to dogs, if i were you i would take the dog to the vet to get it some medicine,a lot of the time with anti-freeze cases it usually takes a while for the anti-freeze to attack the dogs immune system, but when it does attack the dogs immune system the dog will become very sick very quick

What your friend did was a crime. By witnessing it and not telling anyone, you were made an accomplice. You both can be glad you were not caught and that the dog did not die.

Yes, anti-freeze does kill animals (and people). The dog just got very, very lucky.

Well, actually, there are a few different kinds of antifreeze, that differ on the active ingredient used. Antifreeze that contains Ethylene Glycol is the extremely poisonous one that can kill easily. Antifreeze that instead contains Propylene Glycol is considered "non-toxic" and in small doses won't hurt an animal. Those containing Ethylene Glycol also contain a bittering agent so that any animal that tasted it wouldn't like it to prevent ingestion.

Oh, and your 'friend' should burn in hell.

Anti-freeze consist of 95% of Ethylene Glycol, an extremely toxic chemical. A few licks of this sweet-tasting liquid can be fatal to a cat or dog. A few ounces will kill a child or an adult.

Anti-freeze does kill animals. Your X-friend may of had the new product of anti-freeze they have on the market now that is not toxic or poisonous. Unfortunately they still make the toxic kind also.

I think your X-friend is just horrible giving her animal chemicals - toxic or not. Any chemical is going to damage the dog.

No wonder she is your X-friend.

Yes, I know by personal experience. The dog may not die right away. It crystallizes the kidneys and causes a back up. The Dog suffers great pain.

If you have any concern about the well being of the dog, you should report it to the Police or Animal Services.

It depends.

Antifreeze made with ethylene glycol is highly toxic to dogs and cats. The stuff has a sweet taste that attracts animals, who don't know that they're eating poison. Thousands of animals die of ethylene glycol poisoning each year.

Antifreeze made with propylene glycol is toxic, but not instantly fatal to animals. The concentrations the chemical in the product is lower, and it takes a bigger drink to kill.

A third type, made with methanol, is also supposed to be low toxicity in animals, but dangerous to humans. The article I saw said that for dogs, a fatal dose of methanol is little over 3 gram per pound of dog....

Your ex-friend needs to be reported to authorities. Torturing animals is a symptom of people who go on to become psychopathic murderers.
