Other than size of hard disk they are identical. They both support PS2 and 1 games. Save your self some money and get the 60gb. If you want to increase the size in the future it is really easy. Instructions on how to do so are in the instruction manual. The PS3 accepts a standard notebook hard drive. You can pick up a 250GB drive for about $160.

Don't worry, 80GB has Cell processor, because it's PS3 CPU (superdork made a mistake). The only difference between them (except extra space), that Emotion Engine chip for backwards compatibility is removed from 80GB. Old games are going to run on software emulation in 80GB version - less PS2 games supported. If you have a lot of PS2 games - get yourself a NTSC 60GB version (only japanese and american ones have EE), buy bigger HDD and you can have 250GB PS3. :-)))
European 40GB won't have backward compatibility at all.

Features: they offer wi-fi internet, memory cards slot in the front of the ps3. The only difference is that the 80 gig come with 20 more gig of space and motorstorm. The 60 gig is able to play MORE ps1 and 2 games. If your thinking of which one to get I would highly recommend to get the 60 gig and the 100 bucks you save buy resistance fall of man.

The 60 gb has the cell processor, so it has the hardware for PSX and PS2 backward compatibility. The 80 gb doesn't have the cell processor, so it uses software emulation for backward compatibility. We know how well software emulation has worked for the 360's backward compatibility.
Besides the cell processor and the difference in hard drive size, the 2 models are virtually identical. They both have Wi-Fi out of the box and the various media slots.

They both have the exact same features except for the hard drive disk (HDD). These can be found at http://www.gamespot.com/features/6125429/index.html
Also the 80 gb does have the backwards compatability
