Floss.... you need to do some research on this yourself hon. Look up all the medications and side effects... have a little knowledge before you go to your appointment. If your Doctor doesn't seem to want to explore other options then have them refer you to someone else who perhaps has more experience in the field. You must look to yourself to get educated on the problems your having and the treatment options available that might work for you... there are community centers that will help you with a referral in your area. Relax a little... medications work differently on people so no one here will have the magic answer for you! This is something you will have to work out with your heath provider. We talked about this already... Just do it!

Wellbutrin did nothing for me and actually messed me up a bit, and I have had two long-term experiences with it. Lexapro worked well for awhile and I'd definitely recommend it. Also, I tried an odd combination of the two, and I found it worked fairly well. It was prescribed that way because they each work on two different parts of the brain and the way the uptake inhibitors work with seratonin. It's an interesting theory, and I don't think it should be dismissed.

It's scientifically proven that medication AND psychotherapy is the most beneficial combination for fighting depression, so you're absolutely right. However, just like medication shouldn't be dismissed, psychotherapy shouldn't either.

Here's how it breaks down. Every person reacts differently to each medication. What works for me may not work for you.
Lexapro made everything insanely worse.
Zoloft did absolutely nothing, good or bad.
Effexor gave me an abundance of side effects I probably could have tolerated if it had done anything for my depression.
Wellbutrin works really well for me.
Pexeva had more side effects than I could handle, so I don't know if it would have worked, had I stayed on it.

Zoloft did nothing at all for me.
Lexapro worked well but lowered my sex drive.
Effexor works well but killed my sex drive.
