loves animals and is with peta and protests against animal cruelty like animal testing and fur and stuff. Is that called a treehugger or no? what is it called?

well i dont think eating animals is wrong, but the way they torture them and keep them in cages and than kill them and eat them is wrong. I would not be against eating animals if they were let free and than when there time came then you kill them.

There's nothing wrong with fighting for animals and other environmental causes. Generally though, a "treehugger" is what you call a person who seems more interested in animals and plants than in human beings. There has to be moderation between the needs of humans and the animal/plant kingdoms.

I agree 100%. I feel the same way about the way we raise our food. If more people would insist on the more humanely treated animals meat, I think it would make a difference. As for the "tree hugger" part, I think that refers to the people who have physically stood in the way of big corporations to block the destruction of rain forests and woods for logging, but it sounds like you'd stand up for that too! I guess the animals lovers would be "Animal rights activist"! PEACE

Perhaps you don't need a label? Tree hugger, environmentalist, conservationist .... it all boils down to caring about living things (including yourself) and that seems right to me.
PETA people go nuts and take things too far, so I would not align myself with them; but at least they have the guts to stick up for what they believe in.
Seems you have some back bone to stick up for what you believe in too - so good for you. Just be sure to keep your ears open as you may not have all the facts in some situations and it is better to always re-evaluate your position when new facts come in.

"Treehugger" is used usually in a deragatory (sp?) manner by ignorant people to criticize those who care about animals and the environment. I've also heard "Hippie" used in this context. Don't label yourself at all, if you don't want to. People who think it's a waste of time to care about the environment are soon going to be sorry when we have NO environment to exist in. Continue to live beautifully!
