It depends on the age of the child. The younger they are, I'd ask for more, because they need the most care. The older they are, I'd be lenient because you don't have to worry about spoon/bottle feeding or changing diapers. They can do that stuff on their own although you do have to keep a close eye on them.
If there is more than one at a time, I'd definitely ask for more.
If you have plenty of good references and you know CPR, you can ask for a little more money. It all depends on you and your background with children. If you are a real good sitter and you feed the children healthy foods, etc. then you can also take that into consideration.
-It's all up to you.
-Good luck.

hmmmmmmmmm

its a complex formula

$5 an hour plus 10% of the combined income of both parents

in poor neighborhoods, take the $5 an hour, invite your boyfriend over, eat whats in the fridge

in rich neighborhoods, its $5 an hour plus $15 or so, negotiate for teaching the kids and get $20 an hour

cook dinner, make sure you leave a note complimenting the parents on what great kids they have, even if they bit your arm, and what you taught them, and why it was valuable, etc.

well id say if you were going to go by hourly id say 8-10 a hr really depends on the amount of time you would be babysitting and how many kids. and all.

Don't know, but considering that a husband and wife would think their babies are the most important, precious, and valuable things on earth, I guess you should ask for somewhat more than the minimum wage.

10 - 12 bucks an hour is pretty standard for babysitting. ask for more if there are more kids, or if they're troublesome.
