Christian theology borrowed more than the archaic myth of the dying-resurrected Godman. Initiation by baptism, communion with the God through a holy meal that represented the flesh of the dead God, the Holy Spirit, monotheism, and immortality of the soul were all core beliefs of many ancient faiths. They were simply part of ancient Mediterranean culture
Christianity also borrowed elements of Jesus' mythology: the virgin birth, the miracles (including turning water into wine, walking on water, and especially healing the sick) were all common elements of pre-Christian Pagan religions. Mithras had 'em. So did Dionysus, Attis, Osiris, and Orpheus. And more. And they had them centuries before Christianity was a twinkle in Saint Paul's eye.
If this interests you and you would like to learn more about how much your religion has stolen from older religions and is NOT UNIQUE in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM

Yes, and let's not forget the ancient Egyptian god Horus, which most of the Jesus myth was ripped off from. Why do they ignore the correlations? Simple. The whole entire pile of beliefs is a house of cards. Pull one out, find just one error in, say, the Bible, and logically the whole house falls down. Religion and logic are like oil and water.

I have seen this so many times. It still amazes me that Christians are constantly accused of thievery because Christianity shares many aspects of other religions that existed at or before that time.
OF COURSE it has similarities with other faiths. Christians did not live in a world by themselves. It is ridiculous to believe that there is ANY religion in the world that does not share at least some if not most of its beliefs and mythology with many other faiths that grew in the same area.
Why does this belief persist that while Christians have stolen their faith from everyone else, and that NO OTHER religion is guilty of the same "thievery".
There is no religion on Earth, not even in the most isolated of places that does not share at least part of its beliefs, practices and mythology with many other religions.
Why do Christians get charged with stealing their faith? Wouldn't EVERY person that adhered to a religion be guilty as well?
I often hear the charge, but not many address this answer.

Because most of christian mythology was stolen from other religions (specifically the pagans as well as judaism and many other religious paths). They incorporated these ideas from other religions in order to hopefully placate the people that had no interest in joining their fancy new religion that was based on lies and war.
Meaning the spring renewal (jesus) the gods and demigods (saints), ritual (prayer), samhain (all saints day/all souls day). Even the idea of heaven was based on elements from the viking culture and celtic pagan culture.
That is why.

i replaced into 19 while i began out to inform my acquaintances. i began out to have doubts a minimum of as early at 8 years previous, yet i actually tried to adhere with faith until eventually i replaced into 18. i'm 37 now. I grew to become faraway from faith because of the fact it did not lead me to something yet gaps in my know-how crammed with magic. while i might get to a definite component, the respond from believers may well be, "God did it; only settle for it on faith and don't question it." That concept did not artwork for me. I wasn't soft only making up an answer to inquiries to which i did not comprehend the solutions. additionally, i began out to realize what proportion holes there have been in myths related to gods, somewhat the Bible. The apologists' arguments did not carry water. The testable parts of the Bible did not postpone, and the miracles have been unverifiable. by no potential as quickly as has something impressive befell in my existence. My prayers went unanswered--in spite of the sensation of the presence of an "different" in my existence. i got here across the religion of the Hebrews to be only approximately precisely like the religions of that area and time; i began out to comprehend that it purely branched while people broke faraway from one yet another and have been separated geographically and culturally. There are each and every type of reasons I gave up faith, even nevertheless it somewhat began with the Bible and my countless readings of it. It only grew to alter into much less achievable with each and each reading.

It's all part of the arrogance that comes with being a Christian. They arrogantly go about spouting off about how their god is the one true god and not believing in Jesus will mean eternal damnation and a condemnation in the fires of a hell that they say exist. They also go a long way to ignore what the bible states and present god as a white man with long dirty blond hair and blue eyes contradicting the written description of him as having hair of wool and skin the color of copper. I think you hit the nail on the head with your statement that they are scared of the real truth.

The reason judeo-christian beleifs and their God are so different from all other religions is because. no other religion speaks of the all encompassing effect of sin and how it relates to a one and only all powerful God who redeems by the power of His grace. A God who acctually entered time and space becoming a man and suffered on a Christ for such insignificant sinners like us.
If you repent of your sin and accept Jesus you will be saved. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob

Jews accept that all peoples have their own creation myths -- Norse mythology, Persia, Babylon, etc. Their stories were all about violent wars between the gods and worship of gods and tyrants.
The Jewish story is one of converting chaos into a world of peace and order. Our creation story is about goodness and kindness, about just and caring leaders, about harmony and simplicity, and leading ethical/moral lives, and about treating others as we would like to be treated. Our story started with chaos and taught us how to live together in peace and harmony (we're still learning!).
Other stories started with chaos and continued with chaos, violence, and destruction.

half the time they don't know about the links. they grew up doing it just because...and thats where it stays. like easter is called oestra......and the fertility hormone oestrogen is named after it in medicine. the egg at easter symbolises fertility not the stone on jesus tomb. and for all the brides who marry in a christian church....dressed in white...the goddess Brede...purity and beauty.
and the christmas tree with its lights etc...to celebrate the return of the SUN not the birth of the son......and how about the trinity.....maiden mother and crone......// father son and holy spirit.... each discovery takes you deeper into the past of the ancient ways...a past which was suppressed and silenced by controlling patriarchal religions. Religion certainly evolved a lot.
First it was mythical explanations of how nature works and now it's "believe in this or you will suffer for eternity."
Wait, I think that's devolution.
