I've had some trouble with my computer, and tried to use system restore, and it keeps coming back saying that it was not restored to the date selected. try another date. I do and it comes back saying the same thing.

For one thing System Restore needs to be enabled. So if you did not have system restore enabled you would not be able to restore.

Second, If the computer is improperly shut down then this can cause you to receive that error message.

Third, if you have system restore enabled but there is insufficient drive space available then this would be another reason why you are not able to restore...

Sound like all your restore points are damaged, if you are having trouble with your computer, most likely its infected, and damaged restore points are not uncommon.
