I often hear this when people discuss absolute vs relative morality... but the problem is that truth and morality aren't the same.

Obviously saying "there is no absolute truth" is contradicting... its sort of like making somebody answer this question: "will you answer no to this question?"

Its a silly circle. The better question is... what is truth and does it exist... what is non-absolute truth anyways?

Well, if you believe in absolute truth then saying there is no absolute truth is self contradicting. If you do not believe in absolute truth then you are not being self contradicting. If you believe something, then to state the opposite as your belief is a contradiction. Concerning God: If you believe in Gos then you believe in absolute truth, God being creator of the universe is also the creator of truth for God created the concept. However, some schools of mysticism believe in actuality and reality. Actuality is that which exists in the absolute while reality exists in the subjective mind, or the relative. Personaly i believe that what is true in one situation may not be true in another. The statement, "All taxes are bad." is an absolute statement made from a relative state of mind, which is all humans are capeable of. I think there are good taxes and bad taxes. Good taxes are those taxes that benefit society. Bad taxes are those that are levied to pay for things that do not serve humanity in a practical way. Taxes to pay for schools and medical care are good taxes. The poll tax from the early to mid 1800's was a bad tax. Well, it seems I have proven that there is no absolute truth in humanity, reality, but there is absolute truth in God, actualtiy. Of course God is only actuality if you believe that God is real and not a creation of the subjective mind.

It may be contradictory but more importantly it is inaccurate.

We know with absolute certainty the speed of electromagnetic radiation in a vacuum. That is a truth.

There are many other things which are known with equal certainty.
