Because some Christians are too ignorant to see that not everyone shares their beliefs and feel the need to push theirs on everyone else.

I think that only extremely religious people who live their life according to the bible think that being Atheist is being a sinner. Some people understand and respect a person's right to have their own opinion and right to being an Atheist. Its because they beleive God existed and we don't and don't follow what "God" wanted and because they are close minded and based their decisions on what they think is right they call us sinners.

Merriam-Webster online defines sinner as follows.
1 a: an offense against religious or moral law b: an action that is or is felt to be highly reprehensible c: an often serious shortcoming
Now you have what you need to answer the question.

It doesn't matter if you believe it or not. You may not believe in gravity but try jumping off a cliff. You may not believe in Mac trucks, but try walking in front of one. Ignorance is no excuse. We have all been given a consience to determine right from wrong. For instance,Adam and Eve felt ashamed of their nakedness after they sinned. But God asked them,'Who told you were naked? Did You eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil?' Likewise you know that you should not be an atheist. Your denial is your fig leaves. You wear it to cover up your shame. Jesus can give you robes of righteousness. Do you want them? Don't be ashamed. Call 1-800-759-0700

In the belief system of an Atheist they cannot - since they believe there is no G-d or devil they cannot be held accountable to those beliefs. However, people who do believe in G-d and the devil and therefore fear sin and the punishment of the same will try to convince an Atheist that they are correct and the Atheist is not since that is all they know. It is better not to argue since it is like trying to convince the wind not to blow. Good Luck!

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, " (Romans 3:23).
anyone who does not believe in God most likely does not believe the Bible.
that is a personal choice. still, beliefs don't change facts. if i refuse to believe the law of gravity, i can choose to, but the law of gravity will not cease to be and will definitely operate if i jump off a 10-story building. sadly, it would be a bit late to change my mind on the way down. [What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it? (Romans 3:3)]

We can't.
That doesn't mean we're not accountable for our actions if we do something wrong that hurts someone or ourselves whether we're talking physical pain or a loss of self-respect.
Actually, for atheists, no one can really sin. Christians just feel their wrong-doings as "sin" because the concept is part of their faith. Most decent human beings probably feel the same way when they transgress their sense of morality but whether they interpret it as "sin" or not depends on their religion or lack thereof.

Atheists can't be sinners. Sin is only a Biblical concept, and the Bible doesn't apply to non-Christians or non-Jews. Certainly, Christians don't think THEY are subject to the concepts in Muslim or Hindu or other non-Christian texts. Similarly, non-Christians are NOT subject to theirs.

Actually, atheist are not "sinners". They just don't believe in any god.
Someday God will hiss for them and they will know and understand as per the Bible.

Everyone is a sinner, no matter what they believe (or not).
Where I live it is illegal to make turn right on a red light. If you believe it is legal and make that turn, you are still breaking the law!
So even if someone does not believe in moral law, they can still be guilty of it.
