Hmmm Well I believe in Jesus, and its not because I have never seen him or just follow what I am told, as you put it. I believe in him because I have actually seen him and heard him. Draw close to him and maybe the same thing will happen for you!!

I like this question, because I also cant understand how people do it. When u study the history of religions u become amazed how people have been doing exactly what they were told by the Church or other religious organisations. And all these years there were so many uneducated people who were such vulnerable and naive believers, easy to be abused as well. And then XVII and XVIII centuries brought the reason, reasonable thinking and people dared to doubt and started asking the same questions as u have just asked. Yes, u may have noticed the more educated the person is the more doubtful. I guess because educated or intelligent means asking more and more questions. I dont know what to think about people who still believe nowadays, are they impressive or rather not?I personally dont know what to think, have a catholic background, but havent gone to the church since my parents couldn't force me. I'm not religious, just sometimes think, is there something?

There are many things unanswered in life, makes the one to believe the unseen and unknown God!
First, the innumerable problems of life itself has no direct answers, except to pray the Lord to get the quick relief! The inevitable death is questioned by religion to confirm on the life after death!
Since hundreds of millions live in poor conditions, they believe in getting better life next time, so the belief on rebirth! The social issues have strengthened their belief in God and they all expect an heavenly intervention to solve even their day to day problems!

Its called faith my friend. To believe in what can not be seen is faith. That is what is the basis of religious belief. Faith.
Some people just have to have something to believe in, whether we can prove it exists or not. It makes us feel safe and warm and fuzzy at night. It keeps us grounded. It helps us explain the unexplainable.
It gives us something to hold onto when life kicks us firmly in the backside and we feel that all is lost. We have our faith to hold on to. And that makes us feel strong and protected.
I am sorry that you dont have this and glad for you that you dont seem to need it. It can be a wonderful strength for some and for others a horrorable crutch. It all depends on how you look at it.
For me, I would not want to live a day with out my faith. My Goddess keeps me grounded. She gives me strength when I need it and guidance when I ask for it.
Blessings, light and love,
Aviana

That's not what faith in God is all about. Christians have CHOSEN to follow the teachings of Jesus. Once we chose to follow Jesus, His Holy Spirit comes to live within us. Once His Spirit becomes a part of us all the things we chose to believe by faith become clear and we see everything with new eyes. It's amazing!

From you question it sounds like you dont beleiv in something you cant see. example.. the wind, your love for your mother, george washington, galaxies out of the range of your telescope, the inside of the sun etc. Just because you cant see it means it doesnt exist. uh ok!?
faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen
Will the sun come up tommorro if i cant see it now?

Have you ever seen air? Is it not displayed only by the motion of leaves?
Have you ever seen a ghost/angel/spirit? Is it not displayed only by the goosebumps/chills/chickenflesh one gets when present?
Have you ever heard a baby cry for food? Is it not heard and understood by one who knows the pain of hunger?
I can't see you, but I believe your there. I question religion, I don't question faith.

Hello.. :)
When one's eyes are open to the Truth and the word of God..then we do no longer have to see with our eyes..
But we can *see* the Love of the Lord, with our hearts.. :)
I do not follow things I am told..but things I know to be true..
In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With ~Love~ In Christ.. :)

First off, have you ever seen air? I'm not talking about smog, fog, smoke or steam. I'm talking about regular clean air. Ever seen it? How do you know it exists? Science has told you, yes?
Second, I don't believe that anyone should just follow, people need to learn to ask about what they are taught, no one needs a bunch of sheep or robots. No one, except the church.

Jhn 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed.
