I'm getting ready to take an over night trip. My flight is several hours long with a HUUUUGE layover to the connecting flight. I'm wondering what kind of food they are allowing on flights now. Obviously no liquids but could I take a water bottle and fill it in the restroom? or just take the empty bottle? Also, I'm thinking about taking bread and cheese to snack on. Are they allowing any food?

Just thought I'd ask before I got there and wasn't allowed on...
thanks!

You can take pretty much anything - but liquids, you have to buy in the airport after you've been through security. You can't take them from home.

You're still not allowed to take open beverage containers on board though - e.g. a cup of coffee.

Some countries and states don't allow you to land with meat or fruit products. So long as you finish them on the plane though, you'll be fine.

I would stay away from anything that is smelly (for consideration of your fellow passengers), or greasy, or messy... you'll regret all those crumbs for the rest of the flight.

Some airlines may be unhappy about you taking food onboard - but the only reason for that is that they would rather you paid money for their food! If they try to stop you for that reason, hold your ground - there's nothing legal to stop you.

No alcohol.
Bread and cheese are allowed, but you should not eat cheese that has gone that long without refrigeration.
You are not allowed to bring a water bottle through security if it is not empty.
If you bring it onto the plane empty and fill it onboard the plane, that it allowed.
If you fill it in a bathroom beyond security but before boarding the plane, that is probably no different than buying a soft drink in the airport, beyond security. They changed the rule on this, so check with the TSA website.

Bring some money. During the layover, you can buy and eat food at the airport. It is overpriced, but more comfortable than eating on the plane.

if your flight is originating in US and going to ____ but has a layover at _____ and my final destination is at _____....

you can bring in any food in your carry on luggage... and the water... after you have past the security check you can buy water inside the terminal at the predeparture area of any airport and you can even ask any flight attendant to refill it for you... now with the food that your bringing... if you can't finish it inflight you can DECLARE it....

rule no. 1 in flying... if your not sure ASK.. if they are not sure
DECLARE IT....

but if your going to Australia.... don't bring any food with dairy, meat, fruit products....

You can bring the empty water bottle without problems.

You can also bring pretty much any kind of food you can carry onto the plane.
