Its basically a Taiwan toy/junk camera with weights to make it "feel" more like an SLR. Probably worth 2 or 3 dollars.

Depends on the camera in question. A few consumer-level 35mm cameras (as well as most APS and practically all disposable cameras) wind all the film out of the cartridge when loaded and take pictures in reverse order as marked on the film edge, but wind exposed pictures back into the cartridge immediately after they're taken so that an accidental opening does not ruin exposed frames.
