Because they think that the opportunity to meet you is better when you are alone or with friends. They know your parents may not approve and you may not act the same way when with your friends as you do in front of your parents. They are intimidated by your parents.

They are intimidated of your parents, so they don't approach or check you out then. Maybe being with parents you appear to look younger too.
I hope you don't wear very revealing cloths, when you are with friends, do you? If you put a lot of make-up and dress up differently when you are with friends than with parents, it's more likely that guys would approach you more.

This should be obvious to you. Parents are intimidating and usually are embarrassing. Most guys your age hate the whole idea of meeting the parents and will avoid it at all costs. Being by yourself makes them feel more comfortable.

guys do this because parents are kind of obsessive about the safety of their children and some guys dont want to meet a girls parents before they actually date. going up to a girl who is with her parents is like a stranger walking up to a girl who is talking with a cop

It makes sense to me. Would you rather approach a guy when he's on his own, or in front of his mother (how embarassing!)

It's because you make an easier target without the protection of your parents. They can get what they want without someone interfering.
