you drove 50 miles to see your parents and your dad spent all his time at your brothers helping him do his decking , fair enough i dont expect him to drop everything cause i am going to visit them , he spent all day there , came home for his tea and then went back there in the dark , you cant do decking in the dark ,i couldnt go and help them as my 4 kids would have been in the way , i see my parents every couple of months and my brother lives near them and sees them every day , i am really pissed off about this, would you be pissed ??xx

thankyou for all your answers ,except one rude lady , i wanted to see my parents not my brother who cant even go to the toilet without daddy wiping his butt , sorry to be blunt but i am mad at the moment

Yes! I would be angry.
It seems to me like your dad didn't intend to piss you off, maybe at the last minute your brother asked for his help and he thought it wouldn't take long... but it did. Then again, to make sure... why not ask? It never hurts. Tell them how you're kind of bothered by the fact you finally got the chance to see him but he didn't even have the time to stop and say hello.

I would be upset with my dad for not spending time with his grandchildren and myself. Its not like my children get to see him every day, he could have been courteous enough to have a meal with us and if then returned to helping my brother with his deck.

I know I would be hurt, talk to your dad about what you're feeling...maybe your dad is angry because you live 50 miles away from him and he's afraid of your coming and going. Don't let to much time go by before expressing yourself to your dad.

Yeah I would be ripped I mean you drove out there, next time a visit is discussed I would casually blow them off if you are not comfortable talking to them openly about it

No. Somethings need to be done. You could have taken your butt over to your brother's for 15 mins and said "hi." And you can work on a deck in the dark...it's called lights.

Yeap my feelings would be hurt. I'd tell him how he made me feel. Then I'd ask him if I'd done something to make him not want to spend time with me.
