Do shelties do good with papillons? I have a very sweet sheltie named Trotter who wouldn't harm a fly and is great with other animals, but gets a little hyperactive and playful with other dogs (especially female dogs.) Any advice??

Mine are playful and inquisitive when meeting any new dog...for maybe 3 minutes. Then they just go about their business with no real changes from routine. Of course, since I do rescue a new dog hanging out in the house is no big deal to them. Your sheltie will most likely quickly accomodate a new friend. The breed seems to be pretty accepting of other dogs.

well it depends. if you go to the akc, tell the breeder that you have another dog at home, describe Trotter's personality, then the breeder will pick the right Papillon that is sociable, hyperactive, and playful.

However, you have to bring them out together on walks or else they won't have a snese of the pack, and will get out of control, as well as jealous

any dog can do well with another, but they can also hate each other. Depends more on personality not the breed. All you can do is introduce them gently and see what happens. Understand though that with more than 1 dog a heirarchy needs to be established so they may argue over who is boss.
