i have been dating this man for a little over 5 months. he has become curious and has asked me about my sexual past. i told him (mind you, it has been 5 total partners, including him and i am 24yrs old; he is 31yrs old) and he is really upset with me. he even went as far to say he is disappointed in me.

i love this man and have cried for the last half hour straight and am fighting back the tears now. he even heard me cry over the phone and i asked him "what now?" and he said he didn't know. . .

men: what would you do in a similar situation if your gf told you news like this?

women: have you had this happen to you?

men & women: do you think he has reason to not trust me and/or be disappointed in me? anything else to add?

please answer with real thoughtful statements; i am ailing here.

additional info: he is peruvian, he is a bit jealous and not very trustworthy, but he claims to trust me. . .at least he did.

i mean he is not very trust worthy of me. . .

you see, this is how he explains it to me:

in the society he grew up in, he didn't have to worry about "getting to know" a woman, all the details were there and known by all because of the social circle. here in america, however, he says it is hard to trust women here because a) he doesn't know them and b) we have a bad rep.

Hey there..! Well, I'm not trying to create controversy here, but I do think that the past kinda matters... especially if you want something serious we your girlfriend/boyfriend and with all those STDs out there! Hell yeah, you gotta know who in this world you're dating/sleeping with; you don't wanna catch something! He might have reasons to act like that... Do you give him reasons for not trusting you? I need more info. Of course I'm not saying you're a B, but it all depends on the "partners"... were they relationships or just...? Also, you have to see that our society is more tolerant on that, than many other cultures... How liberal are you? Is he new here in America? I know about this as a fact 'cause I'm dating a Colombian (and I'm also half Venezuelan-half American) here in Ohio and she freaks out when she sees chicks and guys making out or sleeping with random guys... then getting pregnant, etc. Well, we are both Catholic so that helps me to understand her better... Obviously he comes from a conservative society were reputation and respect are much more important. I think that If you truly love him and he loves you, you both can try to work that out, I guess! Is he worthy? Does he treat you right? Do you get along other times? Maybe try to make him trust you more with your actions... I dunno... Try to see the whole pic if you really care about him!

First of all, I would tell him my past is my past. If he can't accept that then I am better off without him. He will hold it over your head for the rest of your life's. Second, never tell a man who and how many guys you have been with. If it was before them, it is none of their business. I would back away from this relationship til I could find out if he is someone who wants to control you and everything you do. You deserve better than that.

1. It's none of his business what your past is.
2. If he loved you, this would not be an excuse to be mad.
3. He's not worth it.
4. This relationship will never amount to anything, dump him now.

this is not normal this is a red flag. the partners you had were in the past so why is he so upset. normally a man do not question you about your past partners. I guarantee if you stay with this man you are going go through major drama.
