I just went to petstore today to pick up a sweater for my 9 weeks old chihuahua and weight him on their weight machine and I was so surprise because he weight at 4 pounds. I wouldnt think it were normal for his breed to be that big at only 9 weeks so I was wonder how can I figure out his full grow weight?

Don't trust that scale - you should be taking him to the vet shortly for a booster shot - make sure they weigh him while you are there and tell you his exact weight. But if that scale was correct, your puppy is already off the chihuahua puppy growth rate chart which someone else posted for you (it only covers chis that will be 6 pounds or less final adult weight). A 9 week old who weighs 4 pounds is likely to end up in the 9 or 10 pound range. I had a 10 weeker who weighed 3 pounds who is 6 months now and pushing 7 pounds - she'll likely make 8 pounds full grown.

Chihuahuas over 6 pounds are too big for the AKC show ring, but that doesn't mean they are any less chihuahua. Unfortunately the "in" things right now are unnatural "teacup" size dogs (which is a made-up term by backyard breeders to cheat you on price - but by their definition, final adult teacup weight is supposed to be less than 3 pounds). Teacups are generally unhealthy with much shorter life spans than their properly sized brothers and sisters. Although you may be disappointed your pup isn't tiny, rejoice in the fact that he should be very healthy.

If you need any other pointers on chihuahua care, feel free to email me - I would be happy to help. The best advise I can give you quickly is reward good behavior, don't punish bad beyond a firm "no!". You want to nuture your bond so he worships the ground you walk on - then he will do anything for you.

The Chihuahua Weight Chart is great to use as a guideline to estimate a mature weight within a quarter of a pound or so. This table is used only as a guide, as many things can affect the mature weight of a puppy. Weight may vary depending on its bloodline, genetics, how well the animal is fed, etc. Weight estimates before the age of 8 weeks old are often inaccurate because the puppy is still nursing or being weaned and may be heavier due to fat from the mother's rich milk. This weight chart only works with purebred Chihuahuas. The weight chart is from a book called "The Complete Chihuahua Encyclopedia" by Hilary Harmar, Pub. 1972, Arco Publishing Co., Inc.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU8Vz

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.
