The only way to get a full ride scholarship to Yale is based on the family income and savings according to their website. For admissions, you have to study hard and earn top grades along with an excellent score on the SAT. School activities, volunteer work, and leadership are important components, too. You pretty much have to be pretty unique or contribute something interesting to the student body. I have included some informative links which should help.

Being totally realistic here, you probably wont get a full ride. Yale does not offer many full scholarships... you really have to the best and the brightest. That doesn't mean you should be discouraged. Work hard. You will NEED to be in the top percent of your class (class of 1000, should be in top 10). Your GPA should be at least a 3.8 (with the most challenging curriculum your school offers), and you should get involved in everything you can (while maintaining your grades). Sports, volunteer work, find something UNIQUE so you stick out in the long list of applicants. Your SAT score is also important. Truthfully, I took it in 2002 (I think) before they changed it. Based on the 1600 scoring (800 math, 800 verbal) you would probably want at least a 1450. I believe it is now 2400, so I am guessing (and don't quote me on this) that you should shoot for at least a 2150. Obviously, the higher the better.

Even with all this, a free ride is rare. Just keep in mind, if you are really up for this challenge, and you think you can do well, it is worth taking out loans. There is always a way to pay for school. Good luck.
